Well it looks like HTC has been busy with more than the Diamond and TouchPro. The 2009 HTC line-up has been leaked and it looks like we might be getting a TouchHD Pro in the future. Follow the links for more info.

Oh this is so sweet!
Just makes me wonder when HTC will do away with press technology and introduce actual touch like that in the Iphone. (the screens still don't compare to that of the iphone :-(

I saw it early this morning and had to post it right away. Ive been searching around and I found that it might be a release for the christmas season. I HATE TO SPECULATE ABOUT A PHONE RELEASE BCUZ IT NEVER HOLDS UP ](*,)... but thats whats being whispered. So will our choices be Diamond, Touchpro, or TouchHD by the end of the year? Who knows!! From a prelim look it seems like a super Diamond without a dpad or face wheel.

Ok, now I am just dubious as to why HTC even bothered to make the Diamond:scratch: ... The HD likely won't be released for another 4 months, but still ... why make the Diamond only to make a 50x better looking device that will be even better .... but still running WM6.1:scratch:??? I guess I'll hold off on getting the Pro to see if there will be an HTC Touch HD Pro ](*,). I want a device with a sliding keyboard, but if the new device will have this kind of resolution, and there's a chance that it'll also be expanded to have a version with a QWERTY keyboard like the Pro, I'll be rushing into oblivion by getting the Pro when a better device is not too far away. HTC is doing too much it seems. It reminds me of the time Apple released the 4GB iPhone only to discontinue it only after a few months and offered all those who had the 4GB the option to upgrade. Doing so could be carrier specific for that to happen should the Touch HD be released on the same provider as the Diamond ... but that'll still cost HTC in the long-term. Ok ... sorry for the rant, lol.

Makes you wonder, on Modaco you can see the size comparison and its almost exactly the same size as the iPhone. However, you know the HTC Touch HD won't have 8GB or 16GB built-in or even a battery to compete... so what exactly is causing the bulk? I realize the screen needs a certain frame to contain it, but the depth? No hard drive and no SDHD slot but rather a microSD? I would never get the iPhone and the HTC HD just became my new girlfriend in about a year, but I guess this is the price you pay when one company makes the hardware and another the software.

Anyway, GSM by the end of the year in Europe and Asia. Hopefully, CDMA by Spring/Summer '09 in time for my Sprint upgrade. Also, you have to know by then if it's running WM 6.1 now that it will get WM 7 and possibly even Android. This isn't an iPhone killer -- the iPhone killed itself. Gee, let's all herald a device that came out with 3G and GPS in 2008 when I've had those on my device since 2006. Okay, fanboys, back in Justin Long's *** you go.

This thing looks sick. Having said that, I can't imagine they would ever come out with a Pro version with a QWERTY. Considering its dimensions now, and then with a keyboard, it would be a UMPC. Besides, with a screen this big you do everything virtual. No more hardware.

i think the MAJOR point a lot of you are overlooking is they made the diamond/pro to be released NOW, in 2008. This new HTC was just showed off today for the first time. Who knows when it will even be available overseas, let alone the US or CDMA if it ever even comes to CDMA). Id be willing to bet you dont see it even overseas for a release until 2009, meaning IF the US sees it itll be a year from now for the next yearly HTC device round.

Cant jump the gun yet the thing was just spotted for the first time, its not even out yet at all anywhere in the world let alone the US which is known for getting technology dead last.

It also has the 3.5mm headphone jack, 5 megapixel camera and micro sd slot. I was just considering paying full price for the Diamond on sprint but i'm definitely going to wait. My contract doesn't end until June and they say it might release in December across the seas. If it did it would release in the US around my contract freeing up.

That phone just looks badass. I'm going to hold on to my mogul now. I was just going to get the diamond on sprint on the 14 so i'm glad he leaked this.

Say it isn't released for another year ... who will still want to put up with WM6.1 a year from now? No matter how much lipstick (TouchFlo 3D) you put on a pig, it's still pork (WM6.1).

Isnt the weird pixle ratio gonna make app sizing hard? causing xvga apps un-usable?

if so, ill wait a while to get a phone that old apps wont work on, cause i got an s60 V3 phone when it first came out, but all s60 V2 apps or below wouldnt work on it, and it was ultra lame to wait for apps to come out, because it took months for basic apps to work on the phone...

Ill gladly get the diamond now, and this later. No idea when it will be released on sprint over here, but probably not for at least 6-9 months.

Im not gonna deal with my mogul and its shortcomings compared to the diamond for a device that may or may not make it to sprint, at some indeterminate point in the future.

Mogul -> Diamond -> THD sounds like a good migration path though. :)

thats also another of my concerns. Maybe someone will come out with a utility that'll work in the background to allow programs developed on lower resolutions to automatically be redrawn to fit on th wvga

My computations tells me it's about the same size as Iphone screen which is 3.5". they have the same width but the length is blurry to me. i am just guessing the screen is the same length. Whoooohooo. maybe the lenght is longer since it's wvga that gives a diagonal measurement of 3.8". beats the Iphone. LOL
I was just talking about HTC having same screen as Iphone so everything is a fair game, Yesterday at another thread. I think HTC read my post. LOL. I'm geting 1 of this badboys when it comes out fasho.
Some dude talk about having a keyboard on this is also a great idea. it will be a MID and a phone.

I have to agree with a couple of u guys. This is the first time we are seeing this device so it could be almost a year if we wait the normal timeline of test first, Europe next, and the US last. I for one am not going to wait for it and keep my memory stressed mogul. If anything i would pass on the Diamond and just get the TouchPro since its a more complete device than the Diamond and then use it until the TouchHD releases (if ever on CDMA for the US). That just makes more sense to me.

these photos shouldnt have leaked because it could pose as a loss of sales for the new diamond and pro.

this phone shouldve been introduced with android and/or a new mobile 3d graphics chip like tegra

Same width with the Iphone but prolly longer in length.I will say about 3.8" since its wxga. 3.5 if it's normal ratio like the iphone.

I really have wanted the Diamond since I found out about it last December. Now as this year begins to wind down, and the Diamond is about to be released I'd much much much rather have the Touch HD which is being released in Europe in December. This thing has about twice the screen real estate compared to the diamond and the phone isn't really that much bigger than the Diamond. The Touch HD is about the same size as an iphone but of course the iphone doesn't have nearly the resolution of the Touch HD. That isn't to put down the iphone - the iphone does many things very well. The Touch HD is the absolute best competitor to the iPhone in my opinion.

I'm not sure if people would be offended if I posted a link so I'd suggest you just google the HTC Touch HD and look at this bad boy! Makes the Diamond show its age (even though it hasn't been officially released in the US yet. If the moderators say it is OK - I'll be glad to post some links.

I think we are all onboard with it too. But to wait for it is another story. Plus I think it does not have a physical Keyboard. Kind of kills it. But yes..it is a very nice phone!

It will be a bit before we see it over here. HTC has plenty of Diamonds and Pros to sell before this phone. It's called sell whatcha got first!

i do like it also but the chances of neone picking it up anytime soon ..i will def. settle down for the pro no probleme...

HTC Touch HD is a fullscreen touch device with WVGA (800X480)

the iPhone screen runs in 480x320.

i agree man. good luck with the phone when ya get it, its a beauty. i bet the price'll be mighty hefty though. im with sprint so im ganna get my touchpro and then call it a day.

Correct me if im wrong, but most applications are VGA or QVGA, are they expected to work with HTC HD...? I'll wait it out till I know more about the application details, as for buying it I'll buy it when a CDMA version is released. which looks pretty far from now.

Also should this thread really even be in the Diamond forum? :)

I agree we won't get anything like it over here any time soon - at least not with CDMA - however Palm is starting to sell direct and HTC is even selling the 3G diamond unlocked through bestbuy. If wishes were fishes... the CDMA providers would move forward and unlock their networks so we could have cool HTC phones over here when they are still fresh and not obsolete. Things like this make we want to move over to the dark side and get a GSM contract although I've negotiated so many times to get a great deal on my monthly I'm dreading the thought of starting all over with a new provider.

I think this is going to be the phone I lust for for at least another year although I lusted for a Diamond for nearly as long and my fickle heart has already jumped ship even before I've ordered a Diamond.
