Ya'll take this stuff too personal. I was just passing on info that I had received that may shed some light on the obviously unanswered questions of "if & when". That is why I took the time to reference all those quotes, so each one would get notification that there was a response to their post & they could see new info.

As for me mentioning my thread, if u paid attention to the quote with it u would see that I was responding to 2 posts about needing a place to discuss the HD without cluttering the Pro thread. I was just offering an unofficial place for people to talk. I mean I have nothing to gain by trying to take people from his thread. I thought I was helping everyone, including those complaining. Obviously some of you geeks are not going to be happy with anything I say. Is it possible for ya'll to just sit back & say OK well I knew that, but maybe she helped someone that didn't. Or I'm sure she didn't intend to step on anyones toes. I thought the point was to help each other and share info. Not knock each other down and be snippy.

Other HD thread was merge in here if U don't know. So thanks for the info that U gave. And do not expect that everybody will believe that.
AFAIK, the only HD thread that ever survive until now is this thread. U should be pissed at TP thread like "TP is coming" "I ordered TP" "They Shipped the TP" " I got the TP today" "Unboxing the TP" Threads. They are the ones cluttering the Forums.

I apologize If U sounded rude or whatever. It is not my intension. if U read our discussion here, everyone is giving their input and all point are considered.
I appreciate the info that U gave. it is really great and I hope it is true. If U read my post that U quoted, I always say not to wait for the HD. it is because it is really disappointing to wait then find out that it is not coming. That is why I said that I will believe it when it's here already.
About the thread, Well I guess it does not really matter which thread we discuss the issue. We all have the same intensions. We all want the HD. In the end, we will all be happy if it comes and sad if it doesn't. We are all together on this And discussing about this phone is really exciting. Where ever whe discuss the phone is not really important. The info the we share is. Thanks

I switched to the iPhone (don't kill me) in July, but saw that this phone was out in Europe and had frequencies that should work with ATT, so I ordered one! Should have it next week.

I hope it works and will return with pix, etc when I can.

As far as kitchens and the like, will this phone be very different since the resolution is so different? I do often miss Windows Mobile...

There is no 850mhz which is for 3G network in the U.S.

I saw this on the description and thought that 3G would be compatible (since 850 listed):

"Operating Frequency -
HSDPA/WCDMA - Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz. Up to 2 Mbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds.
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz"

Is the WCDMA the 3G band?

Ok. SO I did a little research. The 850mhz will work in the U.S. Those in the specs are 2 versions.HSPDA/WCDMA and Quad band. The quad band will work in the U.S.

No 3G in US! Bummer. Will get EDGE only in US.

Thank goodness for Wifi.

Surfing on EDGE where I am is SLOW. Not sure how long I will be able to use this, since I am so used to having 3G on my fruit phone.

I haven't actually received the phone yet. Should be here Monday am.

From the specs I was able to confirm that there will not be 3G.

The rest of the phone should be like any other WM device, except the screen resolution is huge.

He was confused. He sent U the hsdpa/wcdma version which has 900/2100 band. Those bands are 3g in europe and Asia. Like I said, The quad band which has the 850mhz that will work in the U.S. 3G has not been released yet. U should have waited a little bit.

Come to think of it, HTC prolly talking about the GSM quad band version that will be released after the HSDPA/WCDMA release in Europe. Makes sense to me now. He prolly not talking about CDMA version for North America but the Quad Band that will work here and that has p@ssed the FCC.

just yesterday i saw a post that the diamond does not have sd card... so went to htc site to see whats up. saw the hd was better than the diamond and now it wont be available. but with the demand, i bet htc comes out with something that will be better.

The screen is better than the i-phone, but as long as HTC has to deal with winmo 6.1 (800lb gorilla) nothing will run as smooth as the iphone OS. The avg. consumer doesn't care about all the stuff we can do with winmo, they want pretty, and they want it to work out of the box.

Wish PPCGeeks would link the HD chats together. Also, the search is hard to use - it always wants more words!! Anyway, I still see nothing to dissuade me from the likelihood of the HTC HD coming to North America at the next product cycle early 2009. One should simply disregard the reposts of old official corporate "denials." No one wants to undercut current generation sales, and product development is always incremental. Its even to our benefit that its released overseas first so most of the bugs are worked out before it gets here. The carriers here are well aware of attrition to the iPhone. They want an iPhone killer and will bring it in from several sources as soon as they can clear the current pipelines. By the way, the Blackberry Storm looks an awful lot like the HD. Other than the OS, I wonder how much technology they share? Oops, I missed Glockmama's repost just above. Someone is already working on the adaptation from GSM to *CDMA as reported in other chats here at PPCGeeks.
