Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

For what it is worth, i have not changed anything in the last few days and have only changed the following settings below from joshkeller77 about 7 days ago.

HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode=2 (the original value)
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress=5C8BC6D8 (HEX)
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort=8889

I get 6 sats inside and 10 sats outside. The only thing i really changed was that i am now only using the EVDO network instead of my WIFI that i had used before inside the house.

I am not saying to reset the phone but that is what i did and have MR1 only installed with the changes above. Hope this helps.

Well Josh it looks like Verizon and Alltel are both dead to me this morning. Maybe somebody left the back door open yesterday.

I'm back to Telus.

Thats sorta my experience with Verizon. It will work pretty well when you first load it, then poof 6-8 hours later-dead.
I'm still using the Telus server and it's been solid..

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

So I'm running a custom rom radio 3.42.50 with the QPST settings for verizons servers... hasnt been working lately as everyone knows (well i guess so, seems like someone says VZW I.P. settings do work still???)...
I used QPST Programming and in gpsONE tab wrote to where my modem was (COM6):
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE
AND in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS], have these settings:
"GPSMode"=4 (or should this be 2???)
"EnableAGPS"=1
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=1
"EnablePDEIPFromNV"=1
"ServerIP"=216.198.139.92
"ServerPort"=8889

and still having trouble locking. Any ideas?

That all looks good. You've done the basic stuff right?

Settings >> SYSTEM >> External GPS
Programs Tab- GPS Program Port: Com4
Hardware Tab- GPS Hardware Port: None, Baud Rate: 4800
Access Tab- Checkmark on "Manage GPS automatically"
Settings>Phone >> Location on

Did you do the GPS hardware settings and the location settings in phone? Did you use QuickGPS? Have you ensured there are no hidden spaces after or before your entries in QPST and registry? Did you use a program other than PHM to edit registry? Did you set registry, reset, and check registry settings? Are you using *22899 to soft reset instead of hardware button? Are you outside or driving and giving it a while for HTC GPS tool to lock the first time? Are you soft resetting after it doesn't lock within ten minutes. You are not running GCs Verizon aGPS cab right? There may be some more but try these first.

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

tried today outside, got a lock in 5s (maybe yesterday stunk cause it was cloudy + I
was indoors)... seemed half a block off but otherwise alright, will test more. U all recommend PDE or Mobile for that one QPST setting. The one GPS board seems to recommend Mobile.

Also GPSMode 2 or 4?

and lastly Telus or another gps server ip?

Thanks!!!

Whichever one works best for you. 2 uses the assistance server and 4 uses the assistance server + cell tower triangulation. We determined some months back that 4 is usually quicker but not as accurate.

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

I can give you a cab that does the registry edits for aGPS for Telus.

NOTE:
1. If you are running Valhalla, run the one called "Serf aGPS Telus for Valhalla". You shouldn't need to run QPST if on Valhalla from what I understand.
2. If you are running a custom ROM, you will run the cab "Serf aGPS Telus" but you will need to follow QPST directions here, but put these values instead:

PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP

One note for everyone is that I set the GPS mode at 2 if you want to set it differently you will need to use a registry editor.

Being that I do not have Valhalla on my phone (custom roms only), I need someone to test that one to make sure it works. I used this thread here for the settings that I used.

UPDATED: Humpa exported me his working reg keys that I have used for the new and improved Valhalla cab. Hope this works for you all.

Posted also on XDA.

Sorry, confused. Should we, or should we not run GC Verizon aGPS.cab with the VZW server? Is there another one for the Telus or Alltel server?

Following, GC14's original tutorial...
