Change GPSMode=4 in the Registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]

Also remember to enable aGPS in the same registry key.
EnableAGPS=1

Done all the old-school GPSunlocks
- used Olipro 2.4,
- then 3.42 Sprint radio,
- new Akey

How the heck do I get GPS working again, now that Verizon made changes?
For a custom ROM with no Valhalla nor Verizon ROM update.

Run the QPST fix and subsitute these settings:
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE

Change/add these registry settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"GPSMode"=4
"EnableAGPS"=1
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=1

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

Has anyone tried the other carrier's AGPS Servers? Especially Alltel.

How much longer?

I think that we were best served with the VZW IP as it was on the same towers. We are essentially pinging Canada with this address (Go to speedtest.net and check your connection to Canada versus your nearest server). It will be a bit slower, but way more reliable and quicker than pure GPS alone. I am getting between 5 and 20 sec locks outside, and locking inside 75% of the time under 30 sec. which didn't happen at all on mode=1/EnableAGPS=0.

Hopefully we can get VZW aGPS back for this reason, but it is not all too bad with Telus.

Yes, that is how we got to know that Telus worked. I tried Sprint, Alltell, and a couple others but someone beat me to Telus. Bored had Alltel working on his phone at some time, but he has some deep hacks going on so I wouldnt know if it is possible for any of us to get it to work.

None of the others worked for me, but it would be easy to try if you want. It only takes a few minutes to change, but you should test each one for a few hours to make sure that you aren't getting false results.

Thanks for confirming.
Stange thing, that IS indeed what I was doing, and failed. Though I finally figured out that the registry editor I was using was doing something odd each time I entered the port #. So my issue was somthing stupid (always turned out to be, in the tech world).

Thanks for the help!!!

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

Sorry if I am a little confused. I am running the stock ROM with Vahalla, can I apply the IP address fix listed earlier in this thread or do i have to run a custom ROM to enable GPS and use the IP address fix? I have tried changing the IP address with Vahalla with no success. I guess that is my problem.

Thanks

Re: VZW aGPS issues anyone?

Apply the posted fix to the stock rom. Reposted below in different format for newbie users.

For Valhalla:
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode = 2
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress = 5C8BC6D8
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort = 8889

For HTC/SUPL AGPS:
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 1
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 4
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\ServerIP = 216.198.139.92
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\ServerPort = 8889
