Exclamation Is my mogul's micro usb port bad?

I'm pretty tech savy, I've been on the phone with sprint tech support, and still am troubleshooting as I type this. I would like to extended my hand out to all of my fellow geeks out there for some help. I plug it into a charger, it will charge, however, if I plug it into my computer, I get a usb device not recognized error. I have tried in Win XP & Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I tried restarting my computer, checking my services menu to make sure it wasn't stopped. I hard and soft reset the device countless times, put the phone into bootloader mode, it says usb when I plug in the cable. Active sync won't recognize the Mogul, but it recognizes the Apache. I tried to use the custom rom I cooked up again, even tried to run the unlocker, and the offical Sprint rom and NADA!!! It will however charge via usb cable, just no data is transmitted to allow for synchronization via usb. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, I looked all over and found no answers. I haven't even had this phone a week yet, so please if you can help a brother out

Re: Is my mogul's micro usb port bad?

i have been dealing with some goofey stuff here as well. on and off more and more people are coming into this problem, well sorta this problem.

have you tried taking out the sd card and then plugging it in?
that worked for me a whole bunch of times.

i then found it was some software on the card as i copied everything off the card and formated it, it then worked everytime with the card in. for what its worth

Re: Is my mogul's micro usb port bad?

have you tried another computer, perhaps your computer is the real culprit.

Have you tried another usb port directly on the mother board.

Re: Is my mogul's micro usb port bad?

If you need to, bust out a magnifying glass. Look at the contacts on both your cable and your charger port and see if one of them is busted.

I'm only surprised that it took 6 posts before someone made that comment! (If you hadn't I would have)

Also used lots of different builds, kitchen and .exe's.

Well I am wondering about the usb port on the device. Are there 4 'wires' or 5?

Mine looks like this from front rightside up position > l lll < .... only four 'wires/conectors'.

So, my question is, how does your's look, and even though this will charge fine, do you think this can be the problem?

3.56 Rom
3.42.50 Radio
1.35_002 PRI

Thanks everyone for listening .... ok, well reading I guess...

Pin 1 -- +5 VDC
Pin 2 -- Data (-) -- This is your missing conductor.
Pin 3 -- Data (+)
Pin 4 -- NC or GND
Pin 5 -- GND

So, knowing this, the negative reference for your data line is floating which is causing bit errors when attempting to communicate with your host computer. This is also why the phone will still charge despite the missing pin.

Unfortunately, you're only fix will be having the usb port on your device repaired. Sorry for the bad news.
