Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Updated: I'm still having a problem getting this to work. It doesn't automatically install the drivers, I have to manually select them (plus, it only works in Vista). So then I follow all the steps exactly, the only difference is I only get one COM port in QPST (com3, which says SURF... next to it). So once I set everything up, GMaps and LiveSearch both find the GPS but never find any satellites.

My Vogue was set up as follows: xv6900 > official leaked Verizon ROM > 2.31 unlocker > NFSFAN Verizon 1.09, and uses the 3.77 radio. I had GPS working great with the Valhalla CAB on the leaked ROM, and I'm considering reverting back to that.

Please help! Is anyone having the same problem?

Edit: Woooooo it works! Thanks to Bruce303Lee at PPCHaven.

Installed the quick connect and registry edits. Google maps show Seeking GPS Sats.. (0),and then says "your GPS receiver is having trouble tracking GPS satellites.
GPS requires a clear view of the sky in order to work; you must be outdoors"
and never finds any Sats.... Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Thanks

What should i check or do?
Sounds about right!

Shadow-tech, is there anything else we can try to get this working? I have gone through the entire guide a few times to make sure i'm doing exactly what you ask however nothing seems to be working. Google Maps is constantly "Seeking GPS Sattelites (0)...", GPS Viewer 1.5 is displaying a bunch of GPS info however no locks, settings in WM 6.1 are correct and the BAF GPS Toggle that appears at the top of the Today Screen is set to ON (Seek: 0). Ports are configured correctly since there is communication between the device and my PC. Registry keys and QPST are set to the Telus IP and port settings while GPS Mode is set to 2.

ROM: 3.54.661.1
Radio: 3.42.40

Is there anything else to try other than the regular troubleshooting that was in your first post?

Thanks for any help, it will be GREATLY appreciated!

I found this that got it working on mine..

"I was going to suggest the registry fix by setting "EnableGPSSmart" to 1 (from 0).

It's under HKLM -> Software -> HTC -> SUPL AGPS.

You installed the fix that evidently does the same thing, but I think all of the other stuff you did was probably unnecessary! (=

Following the instructions in the first post + the reg fix has worked when I've set it up on three HTC Touch's.

The first post should be updated to include this IMO.

Enjoy your GPS man,

Cheers!"

Sheer strock of luck and a very good surprise!

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I just took at look at my registry and I already have the "EnableGPSSmart" set to 1. I am still having these problems. Any suggestions?
I also followed the first 2 posts exactly.

In the registry the first 2 attributes should have a 1 in it. Can't remember what the first one was called exactly but it's right above EnableGPSSmart (also has the word GPS in the attribute).

GPSMode is set to 2 try changing it to 4 and see if it works. Remember to soft reset each time and also backup your registry.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Hmm.. my first 2 attributes, EnableAGPS and EnableGPSSmartMode were both set to 1, and my GPSMode was set to 4 already. should I try 2 for the GPSMode?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Followed your guide to a T on both my HTC Touch and my wife's Touch and everything went perfectly! We both now get locks, in-doors and out, within 15-20 seconds; what else can I say to others except read the guide, read it again, read it a 3rd time and then do it exactly as S-T has layed out. AGps ROCKS!!!

P.s. - The carrier-cab worked awesome too... mad props!!!

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

i've browsed this post several times and thought, nah, too much trouble to save a minute or two....

was i wrong! this was easy, I followed the steps exactly as written on my vista laptop and it worked great... except I had to use to task manager because ##3424 at any combo didn't work... looks like you ironed out all the kinks.

by the way, I got a lock the first time in 3 seconds..
Thank you so much!
