Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Shadow,
I had used your tips to enable and then speed up my GPS on the old Rom and it worked great. I then flashed the new Rom, used my SPB backup to reinstall my software etc and then GPS wouldn 't work. I hard restarted and GPS does work.
My question is, since with SPB I can choose exaclty which files not to restore from the backup is there a list of specific files I can just deselect from my backup restore so they will not interfere with the gps on 6.1?(guess I should have just stuck with my old rom )
I would rather not completely reconstruct all of my data, programs, and settings from scratch if I don't have to!

Thanks,

Larrupin

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I would like to say that the PDE server settings are wrong for Alltel. The calculation should be done by PDE and not IP.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

OK, I have been trying to get my GPS to work, but been unable. I have an Alltel 6900, Downloaded and installed WM6.1. Set my phone settings to "on". Set my gps to com4, none, 4800, yes.... Installed the quick connect and registry edits. Google maps show Seeking GPS Sats.. (0),and then says "your GPS receiver is having trouble tracking GPS satellites.
GPS requires a clear view of the sky in order to work; you must be outdoors"
and never finds any Sats.... Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Thanks

What should i check or do?
Sounds about right!

Shadow-tech, is there anything else we can try to get this working? I have gone through the entire guide a few times to make sure i'm doing exactly what you ask however nothing seems to be working. Google Maps is constantly "Seeking GPS Sattelites (0)...", GPS Viewer 1.5 is displaying a bunch of GPS info however no locks, settings in WM 6.1 are correct and the BAF GPS Toggle that appears at the top of the Today Screen is set to ON (Seek: 0). Ports are configured correctly since there is communication between the device and my PC. Registry keys and QPST are set to the Telus IP and port settings while GPS Mode is set to 2.

ROM: 3.54.661.1
Radio: 3.42.40

Is there anything else to try other than the regular troubleshooting that was in your first post?

Thanks for any help, it will be GREATLY appreciated!

-M.

I found this that got it working on mine..

"I was going to suggest the registry fix by setting "EnableGPSSmart" to 1 (from 0).

It's under HKLM -> Software -> HTC -> SUPL AGPS.

You installed the fix that evidently does the same thing, but I think all of the other stuff you did was probably unnecessary! (=

Following the instructions in the first post + the reg fix has worked when I've set it up on three HTC Touch's.

The first post should be updated to include this IMO.

Enjoy your GPS man,

Cheers!"

Sheer strock of luck and a very good surprise!

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I just got thru with the GPS upgrade and it works great. Before I could hardly get my phone to lock on at all, but now I have 6 to 7 sattelites locked indoors. Google maps works fine. Also, my wifi works too. Thank you for your work.
