I tried this but unable to get any gps. |[ I use google maps to use gps. I get seeking GPS satellites, and then it times out with no satellites. I first installed and used the software with Vista. So I tried everything on XP. I still have no GPS |[. My ppc6800 has ROM version 3.56 with Radio version 3.42.50. Using a ppc kitchen ROM.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I finally got it to work. What I did is checked under start, settings, phone, services, get settings, then changed my location on and it worked. I think that it would be good if shadow adds that to this thread.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Thanks Shadow-Tech I did the QPST on my alltel ppc 6800 and now it says GPS active 5 at 75KB. I'm not really tech savy but your instruction was easy and simple to follow.
Thanks again.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I am running XP 64-bit and I am not sure if that is the reason my phone will not install under devices. It shows up as an unrecognizable serial device x2. I installed the drivers and it stated the wireless drivers installed, but no luck when trying to recognize the phone. Any advice?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I did it just like instructed, and used the cab file for Alltel. I have the latest "Windows Mobile Device Center" updates applied to the Vista OS.

Quote:
On Phone dial ##3424 , then plug it into USB port, WAIT TILL ALL DEVICES ARE INSTALLED (WAIT A GOOD 60 SECONDS)
I had my device manager pulled up and watched it on this step. It took a while for it to show up under ports. Wait until it's completely done. It may have a yellow exclamation point for 20-30 seconds, then it goes away. You should see "HTC Diagnostic Interface (PID xxxx)(com x)" under ports

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Shadow-Tech,

Worked on my HP with Vista home Premium (32 bit). Even showed the com port in a small windon in the lower right during the, I think, driver portion of the installation. This is with the latest Alltel Update.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Well, still no-go on the recognization part. I followed the instructions to the letter. Still every time I plug the cable in, windows gives me the same old crap - generic serial, and I have to install the drivers manually. There is a problem though, there are no drivers for it. I installed the verizon-htc wireless modem installer software, and it says it is finished, but no matter where I look for the drivers, there are none. Any thoughts?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I'm looking for PDE server settings for Telecom New Zealand. I've heard you can get these off a Blackberry. Anyone know how to do this?
