Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
ok redid the 6.1 flash, first thing I did was the *228 option 2, reset, option 3, reset, then in the middle of syncing with exchange, it reset itself the same way it does after those two types of *228 options, I went looking at the localization setting, sure enough it was off, but I noticed the alltel navy icon was in my program list, is there something I have to do with that icon?
I fired up gps view, just to see if the gps was active, and it found it on com4, and it was parsing like it should, i haven't gone any further, i'm gonna slap latest googlemaps on there now. just tried it, no lock, did qpstthing it was missing the ip of course, and port, set those, unchecked, rechecked, reset, ran reg, reset, opened up gps view, doing the same thing first second, shows two or 3 sats, next shows none, next shows 13 sats or so, next none, then, then it starts over, none of them getting above the 30's on levels, just like the pic I posted on the bottom of the previous page Last edited by katous; 10-15-2008 at 05:10 PM. |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Worked awesome for me! Get an average lock on of 30 secs. Used to take an average of about 5 mins. Gonna try this on the wife's touch. Running Garmin Mobile XT and works great!

open google maps, let it load the map data. then disable ur data connection in the comm manager. go back to google maps. click 'use gps' and see if your phone attempts a data connection. it should do it immediately after clicking 'use gps' in google maps. thats because it needs a data connection to get the agps data. if all goes well with that test, then ur problem is satellite visibility. nothing can fix that really. but if ur agps isnt working that can be addressed. |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
Wow! I got it to recognize finally! I had to use a school computer at my college to install. Neither one of my xp machines at home would register the drivers you provided. After I did your update I was actually able to use Live search and Google maps. I couldnt get a GPS lock with them before, this is awesome! Tanks man.

Wonder if this indicates there is a more direct way to change the QPST settings? |

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon
i updated the 1st post. the alltel windows mobile 6.1 rom cleared out my AGPS PDE server and pde port settings in qpst. you WILL need to repeat the agps fix after you flash the WM6.1 ROM.
I never let the customization run with the 6.1 ROM. so i dont believe telenav or anything else in the extended rom causes this. it is something in the system rom that causes the settings to be erased. i have been looking for a way to apply the settings in qpst without having to use qpst. i agree that if a rom flash can erase these settings there must be a way to get the settings ENTERED either thru a flash or a cab. |

Thanks for the tutorial and the files. It made the GPS work like I always thought it should.
