Re: Garmin GPS.......

Hey guys, loving garmin, but am having a problem with the phone shutting off (while running off battery) during using nav use, windows power settings set to turn off device if not used for 2 min, which I want when not in garmin. I've set for backlight to 'always on' (even checked all 4 boxes) under garmin display settings but it still shuts off after 2min even while en route to somewhere. google maps, ms live and tomtom all keep the phone on while using gps, but not having luck with garmin which is the best of the bunch,

also a different subject, to fix the time issue I choose com4, but when I go back to check the gps settings it reverts itself back to gps intermediate.

Thanks in advance

Question are you only having the time issue with the 4.20.30 update?
Mine works find with 4.20.20 but once I update my clock always say things like 8pm at 4am. The GPS reverting back to intermediate I think is also a update error(4.20.30). Try to just stay with the 4.20.20 .

Re: Garmin GPS.......

I went straight to 4.20.30, so I will try 4.20.20

update: I've downgraded to 4.20.20 and time seems to be fixed (com4 set), do you know any way of keeping the phone on when in garmin, ignoring wm6 power savings like google maps, tomtom and ms live do,

Thanks

Re: Garmin GPS.......

Since people make the argument that iGuidance is better because it reads street names, I am wondering what it is about XT that won't allow it. There are other "voices" that have TTS for other devices (nuvi and streetpilot). They are also available for download at Garmin's site. With all the tech/programming savvy people on here someone may find a way to fix this problem. Any thoughts?

Re: Garmin GPS.......

Alright I think I got the phone off issue resolved, my back light timeout was greater then power save timeout, so I set backlight to dim at 30 seconds and phone off if not in use at 2 min, and now garmin stays on forever while running.

Re: Garmin GPS.......

iGuidance is very slick in this regards, but the voice is not as smooth as garmin or tomtom, on my mogul iGuidance crackles and is a little choppy. Also I couldn't stand the look of iGuidance, it just isn't as visually nice as tomtom or garmin while being navigated. I guess I can live with looking down to read the street name when it says 'turn ahead', especially since the phone has a free gps chip, which is mind blowing to me as-is

Re: Garmin GPS.......

When I enter the code to unlock my maps, it tells me that the unlock is successful, yet everything still appears locked and will not allow me to transfer them into my unit.

Ideas or suggestions?

Re: Garmin GPS.......

Does it allow you to highlight the maps with your mouse, if not the unlock may not have worked.

Re: Garmin GPS.......

No, the program still shows them as locked. But it takes the code and tells me the unlock was successful.
