1.4 mbs down is perfectly within the EVDO rev 0 specification.

One more time for folks that don't quite understand the facts here: EVDO Rev A has been rolled out to the majority of Sprint's infrastructure nationwide. That means that the equipment at the cell towers has been upgraded to handle Rev A. What speeds you get on your Mogul is irrelevant, since the Mogul is NOT Rev A capable yet. The only way you are going to see Rev A speeds at the moment is if you have a Sprint data card for your laptop that is Rev A capable.

The most noticeable difference with Rev A will be that upload speeds will be closer to download speeds, the ability to do almost symmetrical transfers means that the handsets could then do QoS and VoIP. Now before folks go off thinking "wow... we're gonna get VoIP!", the carrier has to support it first via applications on the handset. If they do, that will be cool since both your voice and data will be using the same type of packets... which means you can talk and transfer data at the same time.

That opinion is based on what???

Actually, unless you are out in the middle of nowhere, unlocked aGPS is more valuable than unassisted GPS. The handsets have to use a lot more power in order to get a signal from the orbiting satellites, plus, you won't get a signal inside many buildings where you might get a cell signal instead. aGPS can be just as accurate as regular GPS using the proper triangulation methods.

Unlocked aGPS will allow you to use many apps such as Google, etc for free. I'll take unlocked aGPS anyday.

I didn't know agps had standalone mode.. if that's the case and ill be able to use mapping sofrtware such as tomtom or google with agps for FREE then I will be content with it, I've always been under the assumption that agps only funtioned with subscription based subscriber software.

all I want is for my 600 dollar phone to go above and beyond the capabilities of the free after rebate phones of other companies. so I need gps. don't really care about revA seeing as my area doesn't have evdo. but id like my area to get evdo so I can actually use sprint tv and rdp into my home laptop, the rom update fixed my battery life problem.. its like a whole new phone, im at 70% after 4 hours of heavy use, id usually be dead by this point.

fix the gps, fix the ram bloat wm6 is causing, and develop some kind of bt video output and ill be happy.

looking forward to the 6900

Your assumptions are right... not because of technical limitations, but because Sprint decided to lock it down. Think about about it... aGPS is what is used for e911 and that works ok... only because Sprint doesn't block the capabilities from the emergency response folks.

Go seee the thread about gps i explain with datasheet all you want to know about the gpaOne technologie and their meaning of AGPS that is not the same than the one for other device, the explanation about the no-need of an dedicated anthenna (frequencie modulation from the cell anthenna) all include in the qualcomm 7500 chipset...
Go take a look on the ftp under Titan/ GpsOne FCC you'll find FCC reppport about TITA100.
All that stuff come from searsh .
AND you'll find a coverage map from Telus stating that Rev.A is effective since june first 2007 that make TC1 right that the device that need radio rom update for Rev.A
With enough time you'll be able to answer to a lot of your question's

oh.. didn't know tha about the touch.. well that's no god because it doesn't really improve on the mogul. id buy the touch slider if the keyboard was horizontal.. not keen on typing 1/4 as fast as I do now.

guess ill wait for the moguls official replacement. I would like it thinner with a much bigger screen.

I hear you. If they can't get BT to work after 4 (?) months, what are the chances that RevA and aGPS will (a) be released in 2 to 3 months, and if released, (b) will work, and if they work, (c) won't break other things? Vanishingly small, I think. I certainly wouldn't be an early adopter of such a ROM if ever released.
