what if you disable voice dialing even if you have no voice dials recorded?

Sonny,
It works fine now with your first hack. I feel that it drains battery a little bit but at least it works so I don't have to keep turning bt on all the time. Thank for your great help, you are much smarter than Sprint and HTC engineer. lol

Ok nevermind, that didn't fix the d-pad problem, it was working fine for a while so i figured it worked but it started messing up not too long after.

The D-Pad problem seems to be power related, because when the phone draws more power, i.e. in a call, the d-pad works, but when it is almost in an idle state, the d-pad starts to act up again.

My BT was on all night after making the registry changes. For the most part, I'm used to turning off BT when I know I won't be using it, so I don't think I will notice much difference in battery.

This may have already been mentioned, but I did find that when the D-pad quits, I can turn the power off and then back on and the D-pad works again. That would suggest that is somehow power related as freeza mentioned.

I know it's not ideal, but on the 6700 I would use PhoneAlarm profiles to keep BT alive.
I got my 6800 right when the new ROM came out, so I thought the BT turning off was typical. I'll try the reg edits.

I am trying to figure out where the d-pad power settings are, maybe they are the KBD1: device. I will check it out, but I do not have d-pad issues (probably b/c I use Suspended default =2).

I think that the dpad problem is related to the phone going into suspend with bluetooth enabled. What is interesting is that when I put it into suspend by hitting the power button the dpad works fine when I resume. However if the phone timesout and goes into suspend then the dpad will not work on resume. Maybe there are different settings for both of these actions?

I also use phonealarm and have not experienced any kind of bluetooth drop outs like others have. Not sure how that could cause the connections to be more stable though. I just know I have read a couple others that use phonealarm and phonesuite have not experienced bluetooth drop outs. Probably unrelated but thought I would mention it.

I only just started using Bluetooth again last night and noticed this awful behavior. I'd turn on the headset, use it maybe once, and when it was time for me to make a new call I'd notice no Bluetooth. Happened multiple times. This is ridiculous.

Hey guys, my reg edits only prolong the bluetooth from turning off. It still turns off after a longer period now. Sorry, I was hoping this would help. I will still look at the driver issue. Perhaps someone could extract the Bluetooth driver from the Altell rom and make a cab?

Something interesting though is that if I open up a program without shutting off bluetooth the dpad works in that program. I'm beginning to think this could be a compatibilty issue with something on the home screen. The only extras I have installed on the home screen are live search and the HTC home plugin.

BTW my bluetooth doesn't shut itself off. I've had it on and connected to my car for 1 hour straight with no problems.
