i760 Questions

VerizonGuy,

Ok a couple of questions that will prolly make my mind up on whether its 6800 or i760:

1) Does the i760 have Wifi. I remember reading something about it not having Wifi.
2) Do you think the difference in ROM size will make that much of a difference in performance of the 6800 vs i760.

Thanks,
Steve

1) Umm... VzW's website lists WiFi as a major feature.
2) ROM size has NOTHING to do with performance... it's simply a storage area for programs to load from into main RAM.

You guys mean that you can't just keep a USB cable handy to sync or at least charge the i760???????
That's a pretty big deal. Then you say the cable they DO provide doesn't even charge once synced....This must be confirmed.
Considering that there are phones out with HALF of the power of the i760 yet have the usb/charge ability (Wing for example), why the heck wouldn't Samsung use that?
I really wanted this phone, but that's a deal breaker for me.
For several hundred dollars, I'm not taking a step backwards in functionality.
6800 it is.
whoa...the sync cable can't charge simultaneously? I am absolutely with you on this...it's a huge step backward from 6700. I am seriously thinking about skipping this generation and stick with 6700...on the other hand, it would probably be another 2 decades before VZW come up with the next gen WM phone.

Verizonguy, thanks for all the scoop. Any comment on why VZW seems to drag their feet on new equipment?

Right now I show 137.89 MB Free in Storage, 15.44 MB Free Program on my xv6800.

BTW, I have MSVC 1.6, HTC Home, SPB Pocket Plus, CorePlayer, Resco Radio and Opera installed.

I'm looking forward to cooked ROMs for the xv6800 once it's released and the boys can
start working their magic.

Personally, I love this phone. It seems to build on the strong points of the Apache incrementally.

Ok so that pretty much makes up my mind towards the i760. The camera does not make a difference to me personally. I am really more interested in a device that works....and it sounds like the i760 has it all.

Thanks,
Steve

There is something that is quite a little bit off about this is that Bell Mobility (Canada) had released an incredibly similar phone. Called the HTC-6800.....hmm...and I actually own this model.

No, a cardinal sin is when the connectors ARE ALL THE same and they still don't freaken work with one another. Try mixing and matching Moto Q, Black Berry and HTC mini USB Chargers. HTC phones are the most tolerable but still, you'll think it's charging when it's not.
