Re: Stuck buttons

Well, it's happened to me a second time. Since getting this 'like new' replacement (which has really been fine... really did seem like new), I've been completely concious of how I was pressing the button. I was very gentle the whole time. But here we are just about a month after the replacement and the end button is stuck again. I really think they just didn't give any thought to the fact that this is a button that you have to press over and over all day, and press-hold nearly as often. I think the plastic bubble under it just collapses from all the use. I guess I'll give them a call and see about another replacement. This really kills me because I absolutely love this phone (other than that).

Re: Stuck buttons

My end button stuck in the depressed position after about 6 weeks. I tried lifting it up with my fingernail and the button came right off. It still works without the actual button, I just have to use my fingernail to press the mechanism under where the button is supposed to be, but when the keys light up the missing end button makes the bulb shine directly into my eyes.

No you don't have to use your fingernail to press the mechanism.

Call Verizon and they will replace it. The phone has a 1 year warranty and you will get a certified like new replacement.

Re: Stuck buttons

Just came back from the Verizon Store to let them know the End Button on my phone quit working again. They are sending me another replacement unit however I wonder how long it will be until the End Button on the next phone stops working as well. I am done messing with this. Adios Imagio...

Re: Stuck buttons

Sigh. I just bought an Imagio off Craigslist recently (275, which I think is fair). Have the original packaging and all that. Just got the media button stuck. I'm good with that, but if another button goes I'm going to have to see what the Verizon folks have to say about that. The phone is definitely under warranty, just not with the original owner.

A repair with canned air would be laughably amazing.

Re: Stuck buttons

Well, I encountered this today. I received my Imagio in October and it has been outstanding until today.

My quick fix was to remove the button. Clear the remains of the worn out membrane and then a gentle application of super glue in gel form. I let the phone sit for 20 minutes before testing, so it works. I will probably still opt for a replacement in the long run, the advantage of being on a corporate account.

If you dare to try this remember to use the gel for of the glue!!!

Re: Stuck buttons

I thought it was important for anyone having this issue to chime in so we can get a better feel for the scope of the problem.

I am now on my third Imagio. My first lasted 5-6 weeks before the end key stuck. The 1st replacement phone lasted another 6 -7 weeks before the windows key stuck. Verizon told me that if the issue occurs again that I can switch to a "similar" phone, which I assume is the Touch Pro 2.

It is a shame because I really like this phone. I wish they would acknowledge the problem and work towards a solution instead of ignoring it.

Although I have yet to have a button issue, I can sympathize with you. That being said, I wouldn't hold your breath for any sort of re-design on this device. Unfortunately, our relatively new toy went virtually unacknowledged thanks to the Droid frenzy and vzw's new interest in pushing the virtues of android-based devices. As a result, the imagio is not well-advertised, is only stocked at stores in certain locations, and thus have yet to sell enough units for anyone to give a damn.

Don't get me wrong, I think the imagio is and probably will be the premiere windows mobile phone on vzw for quite some time. For now though, as far as either VZW or HTC is concerned, we've got the strange red-headed stepchild.

(No offense to any strange red-headed stepchildren out there)

Re: Stuck buttons

On my 6th Imagio (with the button sticking issue) as of today. Verizon acts like they've never heard of the problem before.

Re: Stuck buttons

So I haven't had this problem yet but a friend of mine has. That being said, here's something that MIGHT be interesting and MAY be why I haven't experienced this yet:

When the Imagio 1st came out (Yes I got one on the day it was available), there were no accessories for it (No cases, screen protectors, etc). I had some extra screen protectors that was for an old MP3 player laying around. So I McGuyver'd two of the screen protectors together to be able to fit onto the screen. As it turns out though, the protectors covered the whole front of the device all the way down to the buttons too. So the buttons are constantly being pulled taught by my hacked screen protector.

This MAY be resulting in some form of button protection and MIGHT be the reason I haven't experienced this yet.

Just food for thought in case someone wants to try it out.
