Post My Very Own Extra Special Device Registry Edit Log

Okay, so I'm a bit of a nerd. I keep a log list of 'non-cabbed' registry edits I made to my phone with me so if I find myself troubleshooting, tweaking, or restoring away from my home PC (I travel a good bit for work) I always have a detailed accounting of my changes.

It looks like it's become a good compiliation of the most popular tweaks so I figured I'd post it for anyone to who might be interested. I can say that there's not a single tweak on the list that I can take credit for.

See the next post. Hope it helps.

a. Create Folders in Windows\Start Menu\Programs. I used Backup, Configuration, Games, Navigation

b. Copy the links of the programs from Windows\Start Menu\Programs into the folder you want to see programs

c. Use a registry editor to add these folders to your TF3D Start Menu.

- Entries are stored under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLaun cher.

- You will see there keys named 0 to 23. 0 is for the tab that is on the top left of the start menu, 1 is for the tab in the top middle, 3 is the tab in the second row left side, and so on.

- Before you change anything here check on which tabs you want to have the folders in the Start Menu.

- Open the key that you want to be your folder on. There are 5 entries, (Default), DispName, IconPath, IsReadOnly and Path.

Change ‘DispName’ to the name you want displayed under the icon on the Start Menu

Change ‘Path’ = to the folder’s location (e.g. "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Navigation")

Change ‘IconPath’ = to the icon’s location on the device

d. Close the registry editor and do a Soft Reset.

Re: My Very Own Extra Special Device Registry Edit Log

Question on #8 disable sms message sent. I follow the registry down to "settings" and then my choices are OEM or Svc. Can't find that string that reads SMSNoSentMs g = "2". I'm greener than grass with this stuff so go slow and thanks.

I confirmed that the path is correct:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\SMSNoSentMs g =2

The only other thing I have in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\ is an empty folder titled 'OEM'. No 'Svc' folder.

Have you made any othert mods that could've changed the directory's contents? Your call but you can probably add a DWORD 'SMSNoSentMsg' entry with a value of 2 without any real concern about being able to undo it if it doesn't work.

I think you are having the same problem i had when i first started trying to figure out registry edits... When you get down to the settings folder and open it you have another folder "OEM". And then you are probably looking for another folder "SMSNoSentMs".

Instead you actually need to click on that "Settings" folder. The "SMSNoSentMs" is actually in that settings folder. Not in a folder in the folder. If that makes any sense. SO instead of opening the plus sign on the Settings folder- you actually need to go into the settings folder and when you do you should see what you are looking for.

hope that makes sense.

No prob. I know how frustrating this stuff can be bc i am trying to figure it all out too. Like, i said, i was doing the exact same thing you were- and then i accidentally clicked on the folder instead of the plus sign and- bingo.

Shoot- i am such a noob- i kept searching for "HKLM" and i was like, "Man, i don't know what is going on, but i do not have any "HKLM" anywhere.

The regedits should enable the "Record" option under the phone's 'menu' menu that's visible AFTER you connect a call. Once you're on a call and you select it, you'll hear a tone indicating that recording has begun - another one either at the end of the call or when you select 'stop recording' from the menu.

The recordings are put in \My Documents\Notes on the device.
