Well there should be an internal one, but try nswplayer. If that doesn't work, then the mp4 may be encoded with something that Android doesn't support.

Re: HTC Hero questions

I know about the internal one, seems to work fine but doesn't like that vid.

EDIT: the phone won't even let me download it. Does Android not allow something to be downloaded if its not supported? Seems a bit preemptive.

download Astro File Manager. there is an option on settings that lets you download anything regardless if its supported or not

Re: HTC Hero questions

I did test the m4u file at a Sprint store today. The video played pretty good. The quality seemed a bit lower than normal, but I was happy with the performance. I had to install Astro File Manager to download it. It seems weird that mp4's are supported, but you can download them with native browser (unless it considers m4u as a different file type than mp4).

Re: HTC Hero questions

I tried Palringo it didnt work well enough for me, but the built in app works well whenever it does let me in all the way, to be honest thats the only thing I have a complaint about, its a great phone, if I can figure this one out I would be totally thrilled.

Re: HTC Hero questions

Man, just found out that it doesn't look like the notification settings can be saved differently between scenes, which kinda sucks. It should be able to save most of those type of settings AT least, when changing scenes.

I just setup a "workout" scene" and put a clock, battery meter, sportypal shortcut, pandora widget and music widget on my home page. And I wanted to set the notification LED to off while I have it in this scene so I don't get bothered by it while working out but it doesn't save it JUST for this scene but rather for all of them. I mean it's pretty easy to disable them by going into settings but it would've been much nicer if it would save it automatically for each scene you create.
