I was referring to the Whitestone, as that was what was being asked in OrangeKid's post. The Topaz, which is the GSM Diamond 2, does indeed have the 3.2" screen.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

not sure if this has been posted yet, but I was looking at the rebate form and the Hero is listed on the same column as the Pro 2, Pro, Diamond etc. that requires only activation on data plan $25 or higher

http://www.nextel.com/assets/pdfs/en...mir_103109.pdf

The Pre, and 3 Samsung Instinct phones are listed separate on the left with a note (requires activation on select plans)

this would lead me to believe that the Hero indeed will be available on existing SERO plans

just my 2cents

edit
saw this too so now i'm confused again....time will tell i guess:

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

At first i had believed that the Hero would only be allowed on the Everything data plans as well because of the previous trend with high end devices like this. But after looking an the mail-in rebate forms that we have here at the store (i work for sprint), it leads me to believe that a sero plan should be possible on the Hero. still got a whole month to go before its launch, so things could change, but for all you sero users, we can hope not.

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

interesting pricing came up again b/c i just noticed something on sprint.com about the TP2 that might be the situation for the Hero.
For the TP2, to get the full discounted price it says you have to have a data package. i clicked details and of course it mentioned the everything plans and under that it mentions if you don't have that plan you'll need one of the following types of data plans
so maybe they'll do this with the hero, they won't force you into an everything plan (opening the door for sero) but they may charge a different price for the phone

to me that looks like any consumer plan can get away with the Hero as long as there's data but not sero but yes for everything referral. tricky tricky

Re: HTC Hero on its way to Sprint! Confirmed!

the whole "requires voice plan with data or data plan of $25 or higher" just means that in order to get the rebate money back that you have to meet those qualifications. but it looks like it will be like the Touch Pro and not force you to even have a data plan at all if you dont want one. would be stupid to get the Hero without a data plan, though it does have WIFI.

and that's all i was trying to say, don't have to have data but you'll pay more in the long run
and yeah i don't understand why people would have a smart phone w/ no data but i figure people have their own reasons and we can all do what we want
