I rooted for wireless tether only...however it shouldn't make any difference why a person roots.

What do I have to do once this update is available OTA, since I'm rooted?

Well, I am a software developer and a shadetree mechanic. I like having my phone rooted so I can explore how it functions. I also do most of my wrench cranking on my FXSTS Harley. I want to understand the working of both and not be locked out. If HD said I was not permitted to look inside my own engine, I would not have bought one. That is how I feel about my EVO.

I have a pretty clear understanding of the phone and it's IO. I am working on a ROM of my own. Writing (or modifying) your own Rom is the ultimate sense of "ownership" of your phone. When you become that intimate, the phone feels a whole lot different when you pull it our of your pocket.

this reminds me of when I was hoping to get a stock 6.5 update for my tp1. and all the hype of the custom 6.5.X roms. Got tired of the 6.5.X roms and went back to stock. One day I called HTC and ask when or if the tp1 was ever going to get an official 6.5 and their response was that sprint already had the updated rom and it was up to sprint to do their work and bloatware and then post the update to the HTC site. That said, good luck with sprint putting together a GB rom and doing anything about it. I wouldn't doubt they have it already, but with the 3d coming, do we really believe the rumors without hearing from SPRINT that it is going to get pushed?

We may get 2.3 on EVO but it looks like we wont see and "official" sense 3.0.

HTC Sense 3.0 will only support Sensation, EVO 3D, Flyer and newer devices; older hardware left behind -- Engadget

Gingerbread coming to ThunderBolt and EVO 4G#

I owned an ego 4g then traded it for an. Epic then traded back to a ego 4g. Yes the epic does have better CPU and video. BenchmArks but ego has better sense UI and better support. I have noticed a slower boot time on the ego 4g.

I haven't read this entire thread, but hopefully thishasnt been said yet. People at XDA have recently acquireda system dump of all partitions from an official build of gingerbread with sense for the Evo. Let's do this.
