What do I have to do once this update is available OTA, since I'm rooted?

Still need an answer, por favor.

Re: Gingerbread (2.3) coming to EVO no later than June

Depends on if you want to stay rooted or not.

If you want to stay rooted, wait til someone roots the "official" ROM and flash it to your phone.

If you do not wnat to stay rooted, I think by letting the official update on your phone, it will re-lock your phone and it will become "Stock".

Please correct me if I am wrong in any way.

I am pretty sure you would be re-locked once you use the official.

Yeah. They'd have to find a new root method for the updatebbits safer to wait the 15 minutes and get a rooted flashable.

Am I misinterpreting something?

I haven't rooted either and I saw your bill below and I have that exact same plan. I have never been able to get the Internet Hot Spot to work with a device and my Evo for free. My laptop can connect to the Evo but then I get a message from Sprint on my Evo saying that I do not have the hotspot plan. Looks like you have benefited from a loop hole or glitch my friend.

Wirelessly posted (htc 6800: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; PC36100 Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Yep same here... I have non rooted stock and tried to get WiFi hotspot to connect. I get "error 67 registration failure. pcs vision username / password is incorrect. Please try again later"
Any workaround?

The easy work around is to root your phone and install Wireless Android Tether.

If you want to "root" your phone: you can use Linux if you want….

unrevoked3 recovery reflash tool, v3.32 to root the evo 4g

Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting to use free wireless tethering
