Good for you and good for the chefs.

I'll wait for the official release.

Choices are choice!

exactly! besides there's a difference between the cooked GB and the official one, difference being Sense

I want the choice of being able to run Sense if I want to, or running LauncherPro on a Sense ROM if I feel like it.

bottom line, if you're running a GB ROM, good for you... if you're waiting for the official update, also, good for you.

Hacking, tweaking, flashing, and re-flashing roms isn't the only reason people root. I recently rooted my device after putting it off for 6 months) and I'm running a stock-like Sense rom with some cool additions (Sprint Lovers). I flashed this rom once and haven't tried another because I don't have the time to try a bunch of different roms, tweak, and hack like others do. My phone performs just as well as it did before rooting, but I have some cool additions!

My main reasons for rooting were to enable free wifi tethering (check!), run cool apps that require root (check!), and get better battery life (check and mate!).

Free wifi tethering (check!) I have no problem tetehring wirelessly on stock.
Cool app that require root... No need for them. (check yourself)
Better battery life - juice defender does it for me. Second battery just in case (from my TP2) does it for me in case I'm not close to my 5 chargerss (just to keep my battery topped off) (Check Please!!!)

I agree with you. I received a replacement Evo a few months ago and decided not to root this time. Just realized I didn't need to flash a plethora of roms each week and was just looking for a change of pace. I still enjoy trying new icons, docks, launchers etc and do miss trying out some new roms, but Its not a big deal.

That's fine and dandy. Just wanted to point out that people root for various reasons with different goals in mind. People don't root for various reasons as well! Like you said, we all win!

Yupp...
We all get to choose what we want to do and what order we do it in... That is the beauty of technology. Not much else out there lends itself to the variety and ease of modification we have when it comes to technology... Try modifying your car every 3 months to have a completely different look or feel. Not without some major cash.
Tech usually works out of the box and we can tweak as we please.

The "Always-On Mobile Data" setting in Sense roms should do the same thing Juice Defender does (if using the free version). Uncheck the option, and it shuts down the data connection when the phone goes into stand by. It's found under Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks. If you are using the CPU throttling, or other features of Juice Defender, the above option won't do everything you are looking for.
