Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
wtf would Sprint say to the Manager anyways... "uhhh thanks, but this info is useless" lmao
theres not shit Sprint can do about it... (but send you to another store to try or recommend going back to stock) **and if a tech unrooted my device and flashed back to stock without telling me first, Id knock his teeth out... havent you noticed Sprint always get your permission to reset a device?? not asking permission to "wipe my device clean" will certainly cost you an ass beating.. regardless of my night in jail over it***

Legality doesn't matter. It voids the warranty. Then they won't replace it over a warranty issue if the warranty is void.

Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
In a memo we got from corporate a couple months ago, rooted phones are not an insurance reference. If it's a software issue that's causing the problem, the logical choice is to flash back to stock to see if that fixes the problem. LEDs not lighting up is more than likely something in the ROM.
While it's not a witch hunt, rooting is certainly not condoned. All of you hating on Sprint for not supporting 3rd party software have to remember that it is a business and you're using unauthorized software on their network. Sprint is perfectly within their right to cut you off if they see fit.

He is right. If you buy a working device from them and then you change it and it doesn't work, whose to say that it wasn't your doing. Granted rooting is awesome but does come with risk.
You should have just flashed back to stock as a precaution though it all depends on the store. It doesn't matter too much up here, the employees are retards. Theyre too busy worrying about the new sidekick my EVO is way cooler than yours |

They do the same in the auto industry. If you bolt on a supercharger yourself, you void the warranty. Go to an authorized dealer, pay double then its ok.
I don't think it should matter because in the grand scheme of things, us rooters are totally in the minority. They have to be making a killing off of that 90% of people running stock my EVO is way cooler than yours |

Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
Note the "unauthorized" bit. Also, market apps give you way less access to the device in terms of tinkering with it, unless you're already rooted.
