Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
I understand why they are cracking down, but always hate to live in fear because you stopped in on a whim. I feared they were going to say something last weekend when I stopped in to have them look at my extended life battery.

Rooting is not against Sprint rules. We just frown upon it. If you have us service we will just unroot and return back to you.

Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
rooting shouldnt matter.. its LEGAL... if your coming in for software issues, then i can see why they care.... but technically Sprint has a no 3rd party app policy as well..... yet look at ANdroid Market flurish with 3rd party apps..

Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
it may be legal but they can still refuse service if its not the stock OS. just like with the PC companies, they will not support a different OS than what was installed on the PC.

Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
its hardly another OS though, its still Android in every sense of the code even...just about..
i still see your point... but they also have the right to refuse you service for any reason period.. thats the joy ANY business has over its consumers... doesnt matter if your insured, rooted, stock, anythin - if your a jerk, you can be refused just on that... so saying they have the right to refuse you is a little lame(not for you, the carriers i mean), since they have that right for anything... this just means Sprint or any Carrier doesnt mind setting a public double standard is all |

Re: Got turned away from Sprint today for being Rooted
Whatever. So what if its rooted. I paid for the product and as far as I am concerned I can do what I want with it. I can understand them not wanting to support a root cause they can't trouble shoot problems without a baseline (stock) but really call into Sprint - go for it make my day! What a bunch of wusses.
