Is the EVO getting Gingerbread? - Page 8

Personally I don't see Q4...so far the updates have been 4 month or so since Froyo was released. It will have to be at the very least Q1 if not Q2..reason I'm saying this is we have to remember that unlike 2.1->2.2....2.2->3.0 is a major release jump..so I expect a lot of changes that will require from both sense ui and carriers adding bloatware.

for everyone in this forum that thinks the evo won't get gingerbread... you guys are retarded. WHY WOULDN'T IT! look at whats going on, EVO's ARE SOLD OUT IN MOST PLACES! while the epic is still in stock at a lot of places. if they won't put gingerbread on evos/epics WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO PUT IT ON? older android phones like the hero.......you must be trippin!

EVOs are mostly out of stock due to HTC being low in supplying them..that said no one said its gonna be put on a Hero...but it is a "possibility" it will end up on an Evo 2 instead and Evo will still keep 2.2

Exactly. Gingerbread may end up on the evo officially, but I wouldn't put much money on it.

I would bet its coming. even with the new devices coming out, the evo isn't out dated with specs except for amoled display, I doubt its getting replaced soon. gingerbread is coming this year supposedly. if sprint doesn't replace the evo (which I think is the case) then they will have to update it.

Hope you're right. I have never seen a Sprint phone get a second update, but it would be more Epic than the Epic!

I think it will get gingerbread, or pumpernickel, whichever occurs first.....if not officially, then it will be ported by the devs at XDA to the evo.

Yep, the only question is how many people, if it comes from Sprint, will "leap before they look", and risk losing root forever. For a certainty, Sprint will try even harder to lock us down. No matter how many warning there are, some won't listen and wait a few hours, days, maybe a week, and see what the downsides are. And there are sure to be some, if it comes from Sprint rather than XDA. Even from XDA, waiting a bit is worth it. Anyone remember the unrevoked incident? Shit happens, particularily to the impatient......

Or when the 2nd update came out for the evo (the one after they released the patch to fix the sd bug) people jumped on it and we had 101 threads about how they lost root. but i'm still a little errr if evo will get gingerbread while it is true that the evo is up to date the fact remains that technology is changing everyday for example the "New Marvell Processor" with 1.5ghz, 3 cores and 200 million trianges/sec
