Well, 2.2 stock doesn't look like it will be rooted anytime soon. So why wait, this process really isn't that hard. All its doing is taking you back to fully stock 2.1 then you can root your phone, then flash a rooted 2.2rom. The process literally takes maybe 20 to 30 minutes, thats it and believe me when I say I am an android n00b.

Don't see why it would make a difference, all this hack is allowing you to do is go back to fully stock 2.1. After that you can root with whatever method you want, so flashing kernals after the fact shouldn't be an issue.

Im rooted, im rooted... But what a tedious task. You definitely have to pay close attention to instructions and use a bit of common sense as well as some things were not fully explained.

ok so, does this procedure get you back to 2.1 and if so at what point. I seem to remember the video making note of this being a ROOTED 2.2. if this is the case, can I flash a Sprint EVO Shipped ROM to get to pre-FROYO OTA update ????

Rooting 2.2 & Downgrade to 2.1

hey gang, check this video walkthru of how to Root 2.2 with unrevoked forever and at the same time get back to using a 2.1 ROM. is this a full Root & how is it that rooting 2.2 will allow you to flash a 2.1 ROM, sorry for the noob questions, I just moved over from WINMO 6.5

I didnt know there was a video. Did the process yesterday and it worked perfectly. Now rooted from ota 2.2 to virus x rom 2.2. It inicially down grades you to 2.1 but ypu can flash whatever you want because you are rooted.

When you complete part one when it downgrade back to 2.1 you can stop right there. Need it rooted just run unrevoked 3. Then you on shipped rom and Rooted.....

Basically that process is just showing you how to downgrade back to stock 2.1, after that you can root using what ever method you like.
