Yes, our beloved swype was causing my issue. I'm 100% sure. Your mileage may vary! I think it was running in the backround and talking up more cpu cycles too, although I cannot prove this. My phone seems faster now. I have a ton of apps, the phone sleeps fine.

I'm confused with what this has to do with this topic?

BTW... for everyone else, the rooting discussion on XDA is getting a little more interesting now. Some of us have been asking the question about the goldcard method and I was able to construct one but am too nervous to attempt using it. Although, from what I understand, this was one of the original methods to obtain root. No one has come out to say it has been tried again... hence no one is saying it cant be done.

Thanks, well hopefully the 2.2 update wont pop up....and if it does I just gotta be super careful not to accept. OHH, I would be so mad if a friend or my fiance had my phone in hand when the update popped up and they accepted!! I dont think they would anyway, but wow that would suck!

Full root and nand unlocked. I have gotten the update notice a couple times before, latest for 2.2 and i always selected yes. After it downloads and does install process it frooze. Wouldnt install update no matter how many times i tried. If you have full root and nand, i wouldnt worry to much as i doubt it would install in the hands of another.

2.2 upon EVO delivey monday. XDA site wed night...back to 2.1, flashed custom rom = happy camper! long rooting method, but worth it if youve got the time. im sure someone will streamline the process later...but i have a brand new 2.2 EVO rooted!

We Got 2.2 Root! Whoa where did the thread go?

It got Ninja Merged... Talk about 2.2 OTA root starts here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...23714&page=168

LATEST 08/30/10: I redid the root folllowing the latest steps in the guide, even flashing the complete amon ra recovery/root 2.2 linked. I tend to get random screen responsive-ness issues. Might reflash full HTC OTA, which was super stable after following the inital "guide" instead.

actually there is no true 2.2 root. you have to rollback to 2.1 than you install a 2.2 rom but not stock
