Since the OTA update, it runs in services constantly. However, it does not drain the battery. Last night, my phone had been up for 1 day and 10 hours and was at 9%. That is with heavy use. When my phone "sleeps" my battery doesn't drain a single percentage. I'd argue that something else is draining the battery. To get rid of it would disable some good features such as pushmail and and update notifications.

Re: Any way to remove Goole Talk?
Not sure if anyone is familiar with Startup Auditor... You can use this to deactivate programs from running at startup or running at all... I don't use either Gmail or GTalk and have used this and seem to work great...
I have both options checked (Deactivate at 1. Startup 2. All the time) If I try to launch GTalk manually it immediately closes out... Check out more info here: http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...itor-qDxn.aspx Mixed reviews on the site but seems to be working for me on my EVO... Hope this helps...! |

If you are rooted, use the over clock widget in the market. You can underclock the phone to 256mhz while the screen is off. It also adjusts the clock frequency automatically depending on processor load. It's pretty sweet.

there is an app called root explorer that you can download and remove anything you want. Go to system/apps then long press the app you want to remove.
