You're joking, right? There are rooted ROM's all over the place that allow removing the bloatware. And what do you mean about Sprint Nav, Amazon, Qik, etc., "popping up" and hogging battery life? They use some storage memory for the app, but I haven't seen any of those apps opening by themselves.

Re: All Discussions regarding the OTA update (Sprint re-released the update - 6/29)

Got my phone from BB less than a week ago. I'm thinking of taking it back and getting an unrooted phone just so I can have free tethering.

I don't have a need for root on the evo yet. The only thing I might want, I can do on my touch pro with wm wifi router!

Why is HTC doing this? Smells like Apple around here.

Re: All Discussions regarding the OTA update (Sprint re-released the update - 6/29)

When I go to "Manage Apps", I always get this message "The applicaion settings (process.com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

-I do have advanced task killer installed
-This was happening before the update.
-I updated yesterday, because I didn't wanna loose my root but wanted better battery life so...I gave in! 6/30/10, not the first release.

Re: All Discussions regarding the OTA update (Sprint re-released the update - 6/29)

Has anyone noticed any problems with Google Maps after the OTA???

My phone keeps losing network signal when I activate google maps...plus the refresh rate when I have traffic layer on is painfully slow....I have updated PRL and my phone signal seems to be fine....just wondering if it's just me or maybe something that other people have noticed?

Re: All Discussions regarding the OTA update (Sprint re-released the update - 6/29)

I am so glad that I frequent this forum for upgrades and noticed this thread and did not update. Is it worth it to un-root the phone and install the update or is it better to stick with an aftermarket rom such as Fresh 0.53 which is what I am running?

Really ridiculous actually..

On a positive note, Wireless works much better for me, having no issues what so ever and I can confirm I was able to connect to my DIR-655 wireless router using an N connection (65mbit so says the android wifi connection indicator).

Speed seems to be equal to what it was prior to the update.

Same Here... after the update the battery life got worst, the wifi got better and the ShootMe app is broken.

Also it seems like the EVO got a little bit slower than before the update.
