You're waiting for the "official update" next month? Where did you find this information at? I highly doubt we're getting a 2.2 update next month.

This is an assumption made from a few cases I've read having to do with 2.2.
Sorry if my words sounded over confident. ;)

But here's my "formula" from which I constructed a July release date.

Sprint 2.2 update in "Near future" +
HTC Desire 2.2 in next two weeks +
Motorola Droid 2.2 in "late July" = HTC EVO 4G Froyo 2.2

You're going to call me crazy, but I still have yet to tether my EVO. To me my phone is like a tablet, it's the perfect size for everything. Because honestly I'd only tether it to my netbook if I did.
That really sucks though, especially for those who use their EVO as a wireless adapter for business reasons. I'd be pulling my hair out right now. Maybe Sprint actually knew this, hence the big RED text from Sprint warning about root updates?

They really did half-ass this update. Especially with the devices that are being bricked from the 'ghost' updating problem, where you install it twice.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/ERE27) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

Maybe I didn't see it before, but my Evo shows a hdmi out display setting under sounds and display, after updating (I think). Anyone else have this before?

Hmmm, I never noticed this either. Interesting......

has anyone installed the original unrevoked with the new OTA?

since the original unrevoked was not a true root.

has anyone who did the ota from today tried to install the original unrevoked apk?

and install the wifi tether?

did it install? since it is just a apk anywyas

It's new. Not on mine.

It installed so that you can open the app, but those in that boat can't activate the tether. They thought they were okay because the app opened, but still a no-go on working

Then it's confirmed.

It displays 3 resolutions for the HDMI output:
1. Automatic (Default)
2. 720p
3. 480p

it's when you disable Sense UI and use the stock Android 2.1 experience. The app launcher at the bottom in the middle, 3d app tray effects, less home screens, no htc widgets or benefits, etc - basically what you see on the nexus one. We used to be able to disable Sense and enable "launcher," but not after the ota yesterday. If you haven't applied the update, you can try it out by going to settings, apps, manage apps, htc sense, then click clear defaults and force close, then press the home button and you get to pick to launch Sense or launcher.
