Seems like an over reaction to the small percentage of quirks that affect every single phone that has ever been released. You will regret becoming a fanboy lol

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
My screen is coming up. No doubt when I press it I can see it go into place. I didn't have the grounding problem at first and now I do I'm thinking it has something to do with the screen coming up. Battery life has always been good never been unresponsive.
On top of that I was jerked around about getting a replacement too. They told me to check the website every hour until I saw they had them in stock and then call back and try to get a replacement! I don't think many have had a worse experience and I am still 100% satisfied. Issues with a new phone are normal no matter who makes them. Sprint customer service has always made me angry and generally requires a half dozen call so nothing new their. But in the end I love love this phone. It's the best thing since sliced bread. I know there are some issues 30 FPS! but that's why we have this forum and others. These issues will be solved sooner than later. |

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
im sure if i left the phone alone it wouldnt have issues! .. BUTTTT thats not why i got the phone..
my gf has one and she uses is it like a normal out of the box person would.. after i cycled her battery - it will run over 14hours .. mine is on 14 hours now with 20% battery left and i have watched videos with it lately. i would do it all over again for ease of customization. my only thing about the iphone is that "they" dont allow the "ease" to customize and move things around. the phone LOOKS way different - BUT the OS will look minimal to different. i almost went to the iphone till i held one in my hand as a demo in vegas and wasnt impressed with the hype . |

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I bought three and all have the light leak. The battery took a little working over, but after spending years in what was best described on this site in an "abusive relationship" with WinMo (thanks to the unknown poster for that analogy, it was perfect), I could never go back. All those hours I spent learning how to mod WinMo, I don't need to spend on this phone because it just does what I tell it to do. I haven't rooted, and at this point don't see when I will, because out of the box, this phone is best piece of technology I've ever put in my hand.
HTC or Sprint will fix or replace the screen issue, the battery gets better every day (in fact I cannot kill this thing at night when I try). Sprint v. AT&T is another issue. I've been with Sprint for a decade, CS use to suck, but now we just call and even mention we have a problem and they throw discounts at us, which is nice. Buy the dang EVO. |

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I love my evo...and i do agree battery life is an "adventure" but I keep an additonal battery with me from my old touch pro 2. If super battery life were important to me I'd have gotten a phone that was no where near as powerful. For me I've had no hardware issues, and I can't put the thing down. I dare say, i have a mild emotional attachment to it. Apple has mastered this with their products-apple's fans are completely devoted to apple and their devices. I won't hate on their accomplishment.
I am glad I enjoy my evo as much as I do....

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I love my EVO.... Thanking the HTC Gods for my good phone..... My battery is crazy now.... I get 9-12 hours out of it. My friend just get 3 and thats with everything off. So i hear people problems and all I have to say is go back to sprint and get another one. Im new to android but that friday when i got it. I was on here and XDA reading everything i need to know about extra battery life. This is not a iphone... That technology is different n better n some ways. But the new iphone 4 sucks and many ways...... Its new and still cant come close to the EVO.... Im ordering the extended Innocell 3500mAh Extended Life Battery when it comes available....

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I plan to return mine by Fri (since I bought it from the Shack, I only have a 14-day return policy). Part of the reason for my return is the Android OS. I guess I have been a WinMo user so long, transitioning to the Android OS is proving more difficult than I care to tolerate. Plus, due to my companies security policies, I cannot use HTC Sync to sync it to my Outlook and since Android is not an approved OS, I can't use the MS Exchange option either. I thought I had found a work-around to this hurdle w/ a small PC installed app called gSyncit, but that has proven to be buggy and somewhat unreliable as well. Additionally, I can't manage my mobile bookmarks from my PC (something I have become accustomed to w/ my WM device). The other major reason I am considering returning the device is despite how well its specs look on paper, its performance in real-world use is not as impressive.
Some of my opinions regarding the Evo: - While the 8mp camera takes BIG photos, the picture quality is lacking - 720p HD video recording is nowhere near as good as my DSC-H20 and only marginally better than my TP - HDMI output might be nice, but I haven't used it & don't see myself ever taking advantage of it - The 4.3" screen is nice, but is almost unusable unless you use both hands - Despite trying several browsers, the device seems incapable of displaying animated images (GIFs) - I find it difficult to find good apps in the Android market - Speaking of apps, many of the android "apps" (ones I would use anyway) are just UIs that connect you to the same content available from mobile-based websites. I can accomplish the same tasks from PIE, as opposed to launching this app for this & that app for that, etc. I hope no one misinterprets my post. I am not a WinMo fanboy and I'm not anti-Android. I know w/ enough time and tools (the ability to properly sync the device to my corporate machine) I would probably learn to love the device. But right now it looks like I will need to go back to my old trusty TP (please hold your groans to a minimum-LOL) and wait for the next WinMo device to come out... or jump the Sprint ship for T-Mobile's HD2. |
