Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I have been with Sprint for 9 years and have gone through several phones and devices throughout. I recently purchased a Pioneer AVIC 920 BT AV deck for my car which enables iPhone / iPod users to utilize Pandora from their phone to their car..
Obviously you know where this is heading.. So I have had nothing but problems with my HTC TP and TP2 over the past 2 or 3 years and have said to myself enough is enough with HTC. I have read most of the issues you guys are having with the Evo and well, I was going to pull the trigger, decided not too, saw the iPhone 4 demo last week and now am about to enbark down the dreaded road of AT&T. Anyways.. would you of done the same in purchasing the EVO after now seeing the issues after 1 week or so of release of the EVO? Just interested to hear your thought! TJ |
Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I personally got a good pick of all the evos it seems because I haven't had any issues. But if I was in your shoes and have had that many issues, I probably would want to switch carriers too. If you do venture away from sprint I would go verizon and wait for the moto droid x it looks like a great phone. I though will never regret getting my evo that's what insurance is for and I pay for it. I hope you get better luck with whatever decision you make.

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I now have the Evo (first android phone for me). But I have had an iPod Touch 2 for many years and have used TP2 (winmo) for a year. I think each one has it's points and faults.
I look for a phone that is not going to skimp on the apps. So winmo is out. iPod/iPhone and Evo are in line with apps now. Only MAJOR difference is the android market SUCKS. Until they improve, and have better sorting, more categories, better rating, a preferred list, and some time of genius feature, then finding what you need is difficult. The phones themselves: iPhone has the best resolution, better build quality, better HD recording (whopee), and the best app store. EVO has higher resolution 8mp back camera (besides the blue tint sometimes), expandable memory, removable battery, better front facing camera, and live 4G service. Providers: Sprint has better plans for data, AT&T can talk and data at the same time. just my .02 |

Mine's going back. I don't like the on screen kb especially when using phone my pc, the ringtones I assign to people don't stick, and the notification led keeps flashing for new email even though I have it unelected in settings. I think I'll hold out for the Samsung galaxy S pro, slated to be released within the next month or two.

Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
i dont care about the complaints right now, because...
A. Its called REPLACEMENT. B. Its called firmware update. C. Its called community support. This phone delivers AND some.. whoever trolls on and on about it, eff them. go cry to at&t and verizon. |
Re: Anyone wish they DIDN'T buy an Evo?
I personally love the Evo. Not a single complaint about it at all. I have mine rooted and custom rom. Got to play with video chat today, AWESOME....Definitely will NEVER go back to winmo.
And as far as the market sucking....use google first. Find reviews of the best apps. THEN DOWNLOAD THOSE. I've found some amazing stuff that way. |

That's part of being an early adopter. Early adopters get stuck with all the issues. Everybody should know this by now. This is why we make use of warranties and insurance. Everybody should know those exist by now as well. I don't see why everybody makes such a big deal about it. These things get ironed out eventually most of the time, and everybody goes home happy. To those who don't, they're just expecting a 100% perfect phone, and to those people, I say they live in a fantasy life. I personally cannot stand people who are jaded to the point they don't realize it doesn't matter how much money you put into something, there's bound to be issues. Technology isn't perfect, and if people can't realize that, then they shouldn't be buying it, or wait to buy it till people report that the major issues and bugs are gone. I'm happy with my Evo. It will remain by my side as my main device till the next huge thing hits Sprint. The next phone I buy, however, may (probably not, but may be) be be the Samsung Galaxy S Pro, JUST for the simple fact that I need to replace the Palm Treo on my 2nd line. So it'd just be fitting to have another awesome Android device on my 2nd line, right? ^_^ |
