Personally for me the snapdragon is more than capable. I have a 360/ps3/laptop for gaming. The framerate on the ipad isn't all that hot. It's got the same A4 as the iphone 4 and runs at a slightly higher resolution. Also the A4 is limited because it only has 256mb of system memory, which leaves alot less space for textures and gaming. I actually own an iPad, and trust me you can start telling really easily when the processor is getting bogged down or the ram is full. Not to mention how many times a game just disappears because it ran out of memory to run it. No error message or anything.

Re: Evo= Another crippled htc device?

Someone just posted this on the Google Code - Android site under the issue regarding the 30fps cap. This isn't mine, I take no credit.

Comment #79 on issue 8942 by wnpixel: Sprint/HTC EVO 4G 30FPS cap on 2D (Canvas) and 3D (GL)
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=8942

Got a call from the Dan Hesse's Office(CEO). Here's what happened:

1. Sprint has reached out to HTC about this issue. They acknowledge the problem and said they are working on a Firmware update that will address this. However, they could not give us an exact time frame.

2. The engineer at HTC encouraged us to go to HTC support and send emails to them about this issue so it gets more attention internally, and hopefully speed things up.

Also, I asked her to relay a message to Dan Hesse, Saying that this might not seem like a big deal at first, but it is in fact a huge one. Customers, especially those coming from an iPhone, expect their phones to "just work", and even if they don't notice it at first, that 30fps cap will get them frustrated at some point, and they will erroneously attribute it to developer, the phone or Sprint, hurting everyone in the process.

She also said Sprint wants this resolved, but they are pretty much at HTC's mercy right now.

Alright boys and girls, it's time to bother HTC!

Visit HTC support here:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/e-mail
and send your Email to them.
At this time I would advise against sending "template" emails because once they start receiving several of the same they can just filter them out. Remember, they are a huge company, they have the tools. Speak with your heart this time.

Re: Evo= Another crippled htc device?

Email sent.

Also, I've never seen a community where some actually think its bad to want an improvement on a device. Good lord, the Iphone moves much smoother than the Evo, and there are people who want it to move as smoothly as the Iphone. What is so hard to understand about that?

I had the iPhone and I still have an iPod and many other HTC high end phones and this one works flawlessly, It does everything I want it to do. I play games on it and had no issues.

My opinion on this thread and many threads like this is that the Evo must be one hell of a phone if people have to dig and find invisible isht to complain about it. If you seen anything wrong with the games thats because most of them are ports from the iPhone and has nothing to do with the Evo itself. Some games even ask you to purchase something from the App store in some games I played. This will def. change soon, since android is growing soo fast.
nothing against the EVO, but it is a legit concern:

That hardware should not be held back by poor software/ firmware.

+1 I concurr
all the podcasts I listen to and stuff I read on engadget, ppcgeeks, wmexperts, gizmodo says that htc's have always had some of the worst cameras and that the iphones 5megapixel camera is better than the evo's 8.
Why do you think it is better.

There is no way anyone could type the nonsense he did unless they are just trying to be an ass. A higher framerate would not only help in applications, but it would provide a much smoother experience in menu navigation. Also, it provides double the response time as something being displayed at 30fps...and why someone wouldn't want that is beyond me. It's one thing to be completely satisfied with what you have, as we've all got different tastes and standards...but don't knock someone down for wanting a feature that should be standard on a device holding this much under its hood.

I'm on the tp2 still (waiting on wp7 and a keyboard), but I would love fore it to have better specs. I played with an EVO at sprint while my wife's instinct was being repaired and Sense got stuck after exiting from the browser and trying to flow through the screens.
Kind of like my first impression of the ipod touch. Bought it for my daughter for x-mas and had to hard reset it twice the first day. I was not happy.

This is understandable though. You had a chance to try out a device and when you did, it locked up on you while doing one of the most simple tasks a phone could do. This would leave an impression on anyone, so I completely agree with you in how you feel. Even if its a rare occurrence within the phone itself, things like this can really affect the way a product is viewed in a person's eyes, especially if it happens in the short time of demoing the unit. Completely understandable imo

You aren't saying they shouldn't provide improvements to the phone if possible. Only someone without a fully functioning brain would say that lol

The iPhone 4 runs on 512 ram, same as the Evo and Galaxy S, so the A4 on that phone will perform just fine.

I am willing to bet the iPhone 4 and the galaxy S smoke the Evo as far as 3D Gaming and video streaming are concerned, as well as battery efficiency.

This is not to knock the Evo or the snapdragon, I have an HD2 with a snapdragon and it performs VERY well for what I want a WM 6.x device to do, but I as if you are into 3D gaming (personally I couldn't care less about 3d gaming on a cell phone) then the iPhone 4 and galaxy S are going to smoke the Evo.
