Re: evo randomly rebooting
Mine randomly reboots only when I am at work during the day, never at night when at home. I think it has to do with gps signal strength. Not rooted, stock rom, no task killers & 002.

Re: evo randomly rebooting
I had my 1st random at work last night. I have the HTC calendar widget on one of my screens and right when I opened it instant reboot. I didn't know what was going on as it took longer than normal to start up. My buddy was looking over my shoulder & said "holy ****! The calendar broke your phone! I'm never looking at my calendar again." Hes got a Incredible. Alls been fine since.

Re: evo randomly rebooting
My phone rebooted randomly maybe 2 or 3 times since I got it on launch day, but was fine otherwise. THEN yesterday I may have done something stupid. I got an update notification for a camera app (wire goggles - does a cool effect with pix) and for some reason, I just couldn't wait for it to finish, and just had to check an address... So I fired up Sprint Nav and poof! reboot! ummm... ok... did I just do an oopsie??
I fired up the Nav again and again, reboot. Uh oh. Well, I left it alone for a while and headed out. I needed the nav app to get to the place I was looking up and it worked fine. Literally got almost the whole way there and again, poof! reboot! Now I can't start the Sprint Nav or Google Nav without it rebooting. It also makes my enter my name to log in and erased all my recents/faves. Once I get logged in, if I tap "drive to" it reboots. If I uninstall Wire Goggles could that possibly help? It's a paid app, so can I reinstall without paying again? If I hard reset (how do I do that btw?) will that wipe my sd card? I have several hundred pictures and a bunch of videos on there I don't want to lose, although I did put them on my computer (need to put the new ones on there - how do I put them back on though? Can you tell I'm a noob?? grrr) Help! BTW stock rom and a bunch of apps from the market Last edited by NJ2toU; 07-29-2010 at 02:56 PM. Reason: adding info |

Re: evo randomly rebooting
This problem started on my evo about a month ago, so that would support the theory of some sort of radio update causing this. I just flashed the official 2.2 rooted rom with the new radio and wimax update and got a reboot yesterday. The reboots happen when using apps that use the gps. It reboots a lot of times when I open up my compass app (uses gps), google navigation, and dolphin browser (my homescreen is google which uses gps to determine your location for local searches). I've experienced this on the official 2.2 rooted odexed rom, DC 3.2.3, Fresh 0.53, Fresh 1.0.1. I have a 0003 with a Nova screen. Has anyone found any permanent solution to this? I'm thinking of just going to sprint and getting my evo swapped out.

Re: evo randomly rebooting
I also think its the GPS. I was using SFL and everytime it was searching it would just reboot. Tried again and behold it would reboot. It did it atleast 4 to 6 times in a row. I also have this app called SpeedView installed and it uses GPS. The second that I tap it, Well you guessed it. It reboots. I have updated to Froyo and still the same deal. My wifes Evo has never experienced this untill today! I asked her when did she last use her GPS and she replied about 5hrs ago. We where in the middle of a convo when it just rebooted. Her Evo is stock. Hope some one will come up with a solution.
