Re: evo randomly rebooting

After my phone dropped a very important client today I HARD RESET it wiping all programs and data.... I did not istall ANYTHING after doing so and so far have not had an issue, however I am only 3 hrs in!.

One thing that was very wierd is that i was still talking to my client when i heard the startup sounds, after looking at the phone as it is booting (at Sprint Screen) I was Still able to hear and talk to my client. It finally dropped the call on the 4G splash screen....

This would tell me that the phone is not really rebooting, as it would have dropped the call way before the startup audio. Is it possible to be soft resetting, or have a glitch that runs the "start up" screens and audio?

Re: evo randomly rebooting

Mine rebooted itself yesterday while I was on a call and had gps on. I thought it might be related to that, but I'm not sure. After that, I turned gps off and I didn't have any issues that I noticed for the rest of the night.

I've been getting great standby battery performance lately, so didn't put my phone on charge when I went to bed. When I woke up my battery was almost completely dead. I checked and my awake time and up time were the same, to the second. I put another battery in it and it almost completely the depleted it in less than 4 hours!!

During this time it randomly rebooted many times. It was also starting to get hot. I went into OS Monitor and noticed that "people" was using about 30% cpu. I tried to kill the process, but it wouldn't die either. I disabled facebook contact syncing, but it didn't have any immediate improvement, but that was the last thing I did before it stopped happening.

While troubleshooting, I uninstalled ATK, droid locator, unrevoked, overclock widget, and wifi tethering in that order. I was about to do a hard reset, but went for a bike ride first listening to music. It hasn't happened again and everything is back to normal now. I'm not sure what the culprit was. I'm pretty confident that it wasn't ATK though, because that was the first thing I removed with no improvement.

I'm confused, but at least it isn't happening now. I hope it doesn't start happening again, because there are times when I really depend on my EVO.

Re: evo randomly rebooting

Another thing I forgot to mention. There was an excessive amount of network activity during this time as well. It was constantly downloading something.

The more I think about this, the more I think that the culprits was the auto-update for contact via Facebook for htc sense. That was the last thing I changed before it started working properly again. I'm just going to leave that turned off. It's not a big deal to manually update it every once in a while.

Re: evo randomly rebooting

Yesterday, my phone got stuck in a reboot loop, bootup, freeze, restart itself, or it would force me to remove the battery. Eventually watching it carefully, immediately after it booted up to the lock screen, i was able to use it. Tonight, it just went through at least three reboots by itself in the last 15 minutes for no reason? take out the battery put it back in, boot up, takes forever to load and then the screen is unresponsive. Really weird symptoms. I think i need a hard reset....

Re: evo randomly rebooting

Although, it seems as if some of my problems were caused my a problem with the sd card, had to reformat it so that android could recognize it?? It was searching for errors on sd card, and that would cause itself to restart after a while? blah... I'm almost ready to fully root my phone and try different roms... Did a hard reset, going to see if the reboots still occur...

Re: evo randomly rebooting

I'm still going without a reboot. I seriously don't know which tweak I did that worked but if you read my posts on this thread maybe you can figure it out.

Currently:

Uptime
98:08

Awake time
16:54

I never did do a hard reset like I thought I was going to have to do.
