Re: help me please
I used this method last week on a phone with the same setup and it worked beautifully :
[ROOT] ~~~ HTC EVO - Universal Auto Root ~~~ v2.2 (works with all version)(1/10/11) - xda-developers Super easy! |

Re: just got my replacement EVO, now whats the SAFEST way to root and backup?
There's a manual way to back up WiMAX RSA keys using ADB, might want to go that route before flashing CM.

If you're talking about a first time root, then I'd suggest unrevoked. It's had a flawless job rooting phones, and I've done it to three different EVOs. Just make sure you make a complete nandroid backup once it's rooted. I believe the newer versions of Amon Ra recovery make a backup of the RSA keys as well.
And btw, CM is still perfecting its wimax capabilities. I'm still waiting (sure everyone else is as well!) for CM to make its stable release, hopefully soon. Good luck! |

I love unrevoked. If it wasnt for unrevoked my phone would probably still be stock.
