Re: To root, or not to root...
no it won't after you get root and then you can immediately go boot into nandroid and backup your phone so everything stays the same.

Re: To root, or not to root...
I came from the Imagio winmo phone. I did the hspl and used custom roms and thank the chefs for those roms becuase they greatly inproved the Imagio. But the Evo is a different story for me, I rooted it for the extra features you get. But as far as custom roms go, I see no reason I'm not into themes and all that stuff. After a few tweaks to the stock rom, it works great for me.
Whats nice about rooting is nandroid, you can install custom roms. If you dont like it you can go right back to the previous rom through nandroid restore. So go for it root the phone everything will still work with the stock rom. |

So what exactly is Unrevoked Forever for? When you go to the unrevoked website and go to the evo section you have the option of unrevoked 3.2.1 or unrevoked forever. In order to use unrevoked forevever you need to do unrevoked 3.2.1.

Re: Scared "rootless" to root my EVO : )
So you dont need unrevoked forever to flash custom roms, just unrevoked 3.2.1?

Re: Scared "rootless" to root my EVO : )
Rooting was less sphincter tightening than unlocking and flashing wm6. I did feel scared but unrevoked 3.2.1 is easy.. it takes longer to set up the drivers and read everything than it did to root. I havent flashed a custom rom but I removed alot of crap with titanium backup. Just follow the directions as posted. Watch a video or two. Also use a machine with at least vista. I tried this with xp and struggled for hours. Vista laptop did it in less than 5 minutes.
Take a deep breath. Read I can't stress this enough. Its not that hard. timdawg |

Hey Mod, I'm just trolling around just in case I make the move to EVO/Android (Now that the SERO plans are more Android friendly).
Just trying to stay ahead of the game. Are you still on TP2/TW roms? Or did you switch? |
