You should explain to the "people" what S-Off means as opposed to being "rooted".

Ok Boo Boo, my phone is -off right now, after running unrevoked3 again. Im on build 3.26... So you say that if i run the ruu now, it wont switch me back to -on ? (ok, im going to try again). Last try. I'll be back.

well you'd figure that if they are trying to root and are using unrevoked they know what -off and -on do.

-off allows you to install any zip or ruu because it doesnt check unsigned files

while -on checks to make sure you should or should not be installing it

Boo Boo, Dont know what the beep i was doing wrong before. But i did unrevoked3 and then the stock ruu cause i had removed a few apps. then checked and i was still -off. Went ahead placed the 2 files in the SD card, and followed the guide on your first post and Sweet Maria ! BANG BOOM POW ! Im rooted... Thank you for your patience and your guidance.

when i try to install the 2.2 ota it says E:error in cache/ota_supersonic_3.26.651.6-1.47.651.1_releasexjg0a0vqdw5cor7z.zip(status 7) install aborted

thats because you are using an update not a full ruu and it detects that you have uninstalled some stock apps.

either install the apps you deleted or you need to flash the stock 2.2 ruu from my first post. and make sure you are -off first

Well, a lot of people are just cook-booking the upgrades and to a point, I am too.

I am a software designer going back to Sun O/S 4.X . I do Win32, Dot.Net and RTSS embedded. Just when I had WinMo nailed down, I found myslef in the Android world and starting over. Though Wiki is my friend, it would be really good for somebody to write up, not just a Upgrade guide but a description of what each step is doing behind the scenes. Maybe even ask for a donation for a good PDF. I would kick in a few dollars.
