Re: Will rooting erase my current phone settings??

unrevoked3 won't change anything on your phone. yes the wifi tether app will work after unrevoked is done. use the guide you linked. its a good one. any questions can be answered here or on that site.

Yes you will. But the key is to do Unrevoked3 and then download Rom Manager Free and backup your current rom, then do the full root I posted a link to which will wipe all your data, but after your done just flash your backup and your back to normal. I would really recomend trying one of the custom roms though as once you do you will never go back. I know Freash rom and OMJ use sense.

(I should add i am not a fan of unrevoked and I would just root with the method I posted and then just download your apps from the market).

Re: Will rooting erase my current phone settings??

3 button clicks is like 0% chance of bricking your phone, unless you pull the battery at some stupid time.

the simpleroot method? so ur saying this is better in your opinion? since i just want to get the wifi tether working. are there any known downsides of this method?

Re: Will rooting erase my current phone settings??

Simple root rocks, and I would really recomend you get rom manager (after you root), backup your "stock rooted rom" and try a custom rom you will never want stock again. Worse case if you dont like it you just open rom manager and click "manage and restore backups" then select your backup.

No downsides to simple root. And lets say you flash Freshrom it comes with wifi teather and sprint apps removed.
