Does this allow you to flash a rom without going into a recovery.bat?

cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
after the word cat there is a space and before and after the greater than sign also.
is that right.
It looks like you typed it correctly. Based on that error I have to ask if you have the flash image on your card? We have to put the FILE on the card NOT the FOLDER. Could that be it?

Yes, that is one of the benes of full root.
Power off.
Hold down Down Volume and press Power.
You will boot into hboot.
Select Recovery.
It will boot into Recovery without a PC.

HTC Sync doesn't matter. If you watch any of the videos, it shows you that HTC Sync doesn't matter.
What matters is the USB debugging. As long as usb debugging is on, you can run all the commands in the instructions.
In fact, if it's easier, connect the phone using Charge Only. As long as you can see the "USB debugging connected" message in your notifications, you're good to go.

Re: moving contacts to google.
I don't know how not to move them. I just created a contact on my phone and it should up on the pc in my Gmail contacts in about 20secs.
I don't know if it's different when you transfer them from another source, but for me they sync instantly.

@acedooncoon-your post was lengthy so I didn't quote
You do not need sync to work to root. Just ignore that error and continue. You made a android backup right? Then everything will be restored once you complete the process.

Yes it makes things much simpler among other benes.

You can tell you are fully rooted by trying to write to \system, gimme a sec and I'll post one method.

Yes you can remove all the files from your card.

Ok, my turn-why do you always double post? j/k

Haha, its all good. Yes you can edit your posts as soon as you post.
I followed fenixjn's example here
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=20

There's prob a simpler way but writting to system is one of the whole points of full root so I wanted to learn.
You could sub in any app if the name/path is correct.
