Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

I'm still having trouble trying to root my evo. I downgraded and tried the pc36img.zip. but it does not give me the option to update.

Ok so it's not the cord, not the port. Honestly I cant think of a reason for the puter to not see it because it's in recovery.
Did you try rebooting the PC?
Any other machines in the house to try?
How about firewalls and/or virus protection getting in the way?

These are (barely) educated guesses, your issue is throwing me a curve

Did you read the steps outlined on Post #1?
Not sure what you mean by "tried the pc36img.zip"?
You just place it on your SD card then boot into recovery manually by powering off completely, then power on while holding down the Down volume button, from there the process *should* run itself as outlined in the steps.

rooting does not crack your screen

lol

Yes if discovered the root would void your warranty though I'd make a case, like my "joke" that the root has NOTHING to do with your screen failure buuuut you probably dont want that fight on your hands.
Check out the downgrade thread before you send her in.
