Free Wifi tether, faster custom roms, 2.2 before its available through Sprint, and no Sprint bloatware.

Re: What are the benifits of rooting.

underclocking the processor to run at 245mhz when the screen is off (saves ton of battery and has NO effect on performance)

So you have root? Then start at the Manual Recovery section with the OMJ zip (it's up to v1.3 btw) on your SD.
You *could* skip the Backup step but I wouldn't. It will back up the ROM your on in it's entirety and give you someplace to go back to in the event of a mishap.

EDIT:Just for clarity-If you follow Fast's steps under Flashing it does put you into Recovery-I'm just being conservative and assuming you dont have a backup of the ROM you're on.

Yes, you can just start flashing a rom/radio.

You may want to try the ROM Manager program. If you're rooted and can see the SU Icon, it should work.
Post #2 has my newest video. After I flash a rom the manual way, I flash a rom using the ROM Manager.

and don't forget, like OMJ says

No, the flash is not automatic. You have to choose what zip to flash with so it's ok to have more than one on your card.

EDIT:Like Fast said, once rooted the ROM Manager program is really easy, DL it from the Market if you dont have it already. It allows you to boot into Recovery without a PC.

@ Fast-excellent advice, man that OMJ has a way with words LOL

Immediately post root you may not see SU icon or permissions. If you followed them to a "T" then you should be fine. Flash a custom ROM (I suggest OMJ v1.3) and you'll have your SU icon and permissions.
You could also flash the rooted version of Stock ROM, I'd think the icon would show there-not 100% as I didnt try that one out.
