If Post #2 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=123534

Aside from here at PPCGeeks http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=210

another good place to keep an eye on is xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=653

Wont root. Main version is older!!

I have tried toasts method, simple root 3 click and 4 click and wont root. Also tried OMJ root post. When it tries to run the pc36img file it comes up with main version is older. I have downloaded countless pc36 img files and nothing. I do have the 1.47.651.1 OTA update. I have looked at countless threads and no one seems to have an answer. Other threads give suggestions but they trail off with no answer. Also unrevoked wont work either. I get a message when i power off the phone and it closes down. Please help!! Thanks in advance.

Re: Wont root. Main version is older!!

Were you getting the exact same message on step 2?
** update**

When i do the simple root 4 step I get [1] Terminated sh /sdcard/part1
I am following the directions perfectly. It happens on step 2 when i power the phone down.

If you are on the latest software 1.47 you need to start with Step 5 Rooting after OTA 1.47.
Let us know if that's not it.
Well, I've tried for three hours now...
Every step and every combination plus all of the faq about being stuck at step 5Q and it won't work for me.

Every step wont work for you as it's dependent upon your software version. Does every step mean Simple root?
5Q does trip up a lot of people. Sometimes you get the confirmation message and then it says "part 2 is scanning" anyway. Are you positive you didn't get the message?
If you haven't tried Simple root, I'd go that route as you are having trouble with the manual process. Same steps, just does it for you. Just make sure you pick the version appropriate for your software.

All of Step 1 went correctly?
You MUST type each line separately and hit enter. As is says in the tutorial it wont do anything after you type each line but go to the #.
If you do one line at a time do you still get the "permission denied" error?
