Mine didn't ask me if I wanted to update right away, I left the store after activation played with it for a few minutes. Set up my voicemail and then I got the update message and updated my phone.

They are making us Update all phones bought in the store before CX's are allowed to walk out. this update fixes an error where the Memory Card wouldnt allow for Video Playback to operate as needed. something about the SD card not being formatted right. FYI

so whats the bottom line here?
update or not...
if the sd card wont work good without it maybe its worth the update.
although personally i think i couldn't care less about watching videos on it.

Well I took the 8 gig out anyways and put in my 16 gig and I have no sd card issues thus far

I have heard that we should wait on the update because it breaks root and they are not sure how hard it will be to reroot the device after the update.

Specific people are working on making the update root friendly and will have something posted soon. They are going through the update files to understand exactly what they do. Hang in there.
