For those who Pre-Ordered at Radioshack, I have a question for you... :)

I did this at a very tiny Radioshack 5 minutes from my house. To my surprise the manager said they've had a TON of people come in a Pre-Order. Is it possible they run out of phones before I get mine, even if I pre-ordered? Anyways, I wanted to Pre-Order soon because after 5/31 you can't get the free $20 credit to buy an accessory for the phone.

The manager is kind of a ditz and was talking and talking and talking. For some reason, he gave me a $50 gift card for Radioshack, and then said if I wanted to, I can use that to help pay for the Evo itself. I didn't read about that ANYWHERE! Maybe I missed it or something. Anyways, so let me get this straight...

Evo should be $199 for me since I'm adding a new line. I had to put down $50 to pre-order, and then I can use the free $50 gift card to help pay, which basically brings the phone down to $99. (excluding tax and the $20 for the new line).

Did anyone else get this kind of deal, or is that just me...?

Thats embarrassing I never even thought of looking there, sorry dude. The Pre-order thread basically answered my question so I suppose this thread can be removed instead of moved. Thanks for the heads up Shell.

When you pre-order at both BB and RS, you pay your $50 deposit and they give you a $50 gift card to offset the deposit. When you go back to pick it up, you cash in the gift card and pay the difference. The reason they give you the gift card to offset the deposit is just in case they can't honor the pre-order or you decide to buy the phone somewhere else. That way you're not out the $50 you paid them.

I thought the reason they gave you a $50 gift card was because if you decided not to buy it there they would at least get $50 out of you for their trouble. I don't see it being because they can't fulfill the order.

According to the RS manager I talked to today (I pre-ordered with them last Friday), any pre-orders they take are guaranteed to get the phone on the 4th.

That said, I'd recommend ordering ASAP...like tomorrow morning ASAP.
The longer you wait, the more likely your are NOT to get the phone on release day.
