Re: Sprint ok's FREE HOT SPOT on 2.2 and teethering

I watched it twice in a row just to see, but never once does he say anything about charging more for a phone that's a data wh*re like the Evo. All he talks about is that 4G will not cost their customers any more money than 3G does, and Sprint is living up to that.

I don't like the fee either, but I'm not going to try and take something he said completely out of context and make it what I want to hear just so I have someone to blame.

Clearly, he says that they know customers are going to be using more data, and for more things. He even goes so far as to say they will start charging for how much data people use in 2 years, but for now it will be free.

If you didn't hear that, watch it again.

And saying you aren't going to take what he says out of context, in a post where you also say he is living up to his promise, is hillarious.

What does the $10 fee have to do with the article in the first post?

It's not worth trying. It won't sink in. I gave up, tokuzumi.

Just let them be mad about it.

Re: Sprint ok's FREE HOT SPOT on 2.2 and teethering

I hate the $10 fee as well, but we gotta be realistic. Sprint invested how much into 4G? In the billions? They are a business and have to recoup that somehow. Perhaps they did not know exactly what they were going to do with the EVO, and after the 1st quarter results decided not to sell the EVO with just the regular plans. Dan did say 4G was not going to be extra, but maybe he meant aircards only. If Sprint gets back some of the customers they lost perhaps this $10 fee will go away. I can't see them charging $10 add-on on this phone in 3 years cause it will not be that cool anymore. All speculation of course.

At the same time Hesse said there wouldn't be a 4G fee, he also said they would be going away from unlimited data plans in 2 years and moving towards data bucket plans.

So you're right that this fee will probably be gone in 3 years. Unfortunately, it will be even worse at that time.

Re: Sprint ok's FREE HOT SPOT on 2.2 and teethering

All I know is, after the release of the Evo, and the root method is released, wifi tethering will be free. And once Froyo roms hit the dev forums, that wifi hotspot app will make the Evo my hero (no pun intended).

Not sure what data bucket plans are. Right now they are going from 3G capped to 4G uncapped. Way to early to tell what plans will be like in 3 years. You can't deny that in almost any technology to get the latest and greatest it will always be more expensive. If you want to save money, you'll have to stick to older technology.

Not sure. Never used more than 1 connection at a time.
