My phone has the rainbow rectangle. Im just waiting a couple more days then im going to exchange it in and get either a mint refurb or a nib. I should get top dollar then.
Heres my problem there. My TP2 turns off when I drop it on a table or anything that will make a slight impact to it. Even if I slide it open the keyboard impact will shut off the phone! Very annoying, but I was going to exchange it (repair) later when I want to sell it. Well, now Sprint is saying there is "water damage" on the phone because of that stupid water marker thing which is in a horrible spot.

So now I have to dish out $100 for a new TP2. I don't know if I want to dish out $100 and then sell it for $250 on CL (whatever CL is), when I can trade it to best buy for about $120-$160. Because subtract 100 (for the repair) and then me selling it for 250 on CL, it comes out to be $150. Same deal pretty much. I'm going to go to Best Buy later today and get a quote on my actual phone. I'll come back and let everyone know what they want for it. If it's lower than $150 then I'm going to be asking Shell and Dave some questions about selling bbl.

Re: How can I get this phone the cheapest way possible!?

OKAY! This is the cheapest way I've figured out! I'm going to add a third line to my 1500 Everything Plan and it will cost me $20 to add that line, and the additional $10 for the high speed 4G crap. And then at Radioshack I can pay the $199 up front no MIR and if I preorder before Monday I can get a free $20 store credit. Once I buy the phone, I'll switch my TP2 to my third line, and switch the Evo to my Primary line. As for the Third Line, I'm letting my cousin use it and pay me 37 a month.

My TP2 has apparent "water damage" I can can only assume its because I leave it on the bathroom sink when I take hot showers. Never dropped it in water. And it has a few tough scratches on the screen when my kid brother took of the screen protector without me realizing until about a month later. I can't think of how I could sell it in that condition for that price.

I've also tried having Sprint exchange it. Couldn't do it unless I wanted to pay $100 because of water damage (which is so BS). And take the $100 into account and its not the best deal.

But you have a very good point if I had a purtty TP2, lol.

100 bucks for a tp2 that you can make 200 selling it. you wont get a dime even if it works with the damage indicator tripped. so pay the 100 bucks

Re: How can I get this phone the cheapest way possible!?

FYI-You can trade in up to 3 phones per upgrade/new line. If you have a TP2 you would get 100ish+old blackberry 49.99...incognitos are trading for 50ish etc. Old phones have a trade in value of recycle but if you can find nice enough phones (any carrier btw) then you can really get the price down that way. New line activation is a great way to get the price down but you are locked into another 2 yr. contract for the extra line. If you are not opposed to changing your phone number you can keep the new line and cancel the old line for the pro-rated amount if your bro bails on the bill. Best of luck to you but I have to agree with the guy that said wait a few batches...then get it.

Go back to the store and exchange it. Explain to them it is causes by moisture. I was in the same situation with my Touch and they replaced it.

i believe, the fine print for the trade in phones, states something about a certain condition. i don't think you will get the $120-$160 that u are hoping for. i may be wrong, but i believe i read this.

Re: How can I get this phone the cheapest way possible!?

The only questions the program asks are:

Does the phone power on and the LCD operate correctly?

Are there any visible pieces missing? ie. antenna (s.p?) body panels etc.

Customer Name?

IMEI/HEX?

Carrier?

New line or Upgrade?

Account number?

Phone number?

I dont think it even asks about water damage...visible appearance etc.

Some stores run promos giving you more for it also...our store is doin $50 more than the value of the trade for new activations this weekend. But we are a preferred retailer 3rd party. Trade must be done at time of purchase and if you accept the trade you CANNOT get your phone back nor credit for any unused value at time of trade.
