The most I have seen them do on the PS3 was get it to play back-up PS2 games but other than that......NOTHING! Other OS was garbage anyway.....who REALLY used it?!

By the time the PS3 is intruded Playstation 4 will be out....or right down the street!

But best believe any phone that goes on sale is gonna be hacked.....within the first 2 weeks! I think a russian team already put Windows Phone 7 on an HD2...........so don't even worry about the EVO!

And besides......name 1 phone Sprint released that hasn't been invaded yet.......I dare you?!
The playing burned games on PS3 has more to do with the fomat it uses (Blueray) then the actually system itself. XBOX360 uses dvd discs so its a lil different

froyo roms, free wifi router access, the removal of bloatware, not to mention the thousands of apps its opens up to you. Yeah there is legitimate reason to do so imo.

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

So... I don't doubt that the EVO will get rooted, but I think a more important question here is... does it matter? It seems that the writing is on the wall that people will be forced to pay the extra $30 per month just to own this phone because of the automatically built-in tethering. And with that being the case, there is no tethering to "hack." Because whether you "hack" it or not, you are still gonna have to pay the $30 per month to have this phone.

I am not real savvy on rooting android phones, but it seems to me that this might be the direction that providers are going in with these phones in order to maintain add-on sales for the devices.
Well that sucks

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

The PS3 discussion is better suited somewhere else, but yes, the hack is actually useful (if you have the know-how), since you can get otherOS support back on your PS3 using GeoHot's first CFW.

They are only forcing $10..not 30$...the wifi tethering for the EVO will most likely either have remote deactivation or authenticate before providing internet sharing..in either case its no different then sprint's current "Phone-As-Modem" addons..

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

The EVO will be rooted, fairly quickly IMHO, and I would bet that Paul from Modaco is the man who pulls it off.

Don't hold your breath, I pm'ed him and he said he cannot guarantee root. I told him since I already have a nexus one I would be willing to send him my evo, but since he can't guarantee a time frame and positive root access its probably not a good idea to send it to him. But if he gets one he will probably root it.

How?! It uses BluRay! All someone would have to do is go out and buy some blank BluRays, a BluRay burner (which I've had since 2007) and they should be all systems go...............right?! NO!

What people are forgetting is the PS3 has that cell processor in it.......and Sony kinda has that on lock......thats why there aren't any mainstream computers on the market with it! Same thing with BluRay, Sony paid the money to acquire it so they can sue anyone who tries to use it without their permission! Devs have been working on that thing for years with no luck! You can do the same thing to a PS3 game that you can do with an 360 game but in the end.....you'll be able to play the 360 game.....the PS3 game will just sit there until it can be used........which might be never!

Sorry......I was just comparing because someone else had brought it up!

My point about that was while the PS3 hasn't been hacked to do what EVERY OTHER gaming system that uses disc as their medium have, mostly every smartphone that I know of has been invaded..........especially the WM ones! I don't know how it works with Android but I can bet it really isn't that much different than WM, just copying the OS and editing it.....on top of breaching security on the device to load the ROM!

So point is: if its on sprint...whether its Android or WM...it'll be hacked! I've heard about the 2.2 Froyo being like.......45 times faster that 2.1 according to some benchmarks or something...on top of the tethering app that comes with it! Doesn't sound like that needs to be rooted!
