Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

That fact that Android is build of Linux and Java.. I'm guessing it will be rooted fairly quick.

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

Will there be a way to remove the Sprint bloatware (Sprint TV, etc...) without rooting it?

PS3 is hacked. There's not much that can be done with it right now, but "geohot", creator of iPhone jailbreak/unlock, showed a video of PS3 hacked, and included some C/C++ code explaining the hack. This is as far as they got, but PS3 is hacked.

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

Yeah, I've seen geohot's work but its not really usable at this point and Sony updates the firmware very often. In fact their latest update removes the OtherOS option entirely I hear. We're lucky HTC doesn't do things like that. I love my custom ROMS!

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

There is a general consensus that anything a person has physical access to can be compromised.

The PS3 though is a harder for 2 reasons...

1) it is sole developed by sony bot software and hardware..thus it is more secure, if sony released the code for the OS used on the PS3 it would be hacked in a week.

2) a PS3 is far more advanced then a cell phone.

But in no way is the PS3 unhackable and it has been hacked a few times just patched with firmware updates soon after.

Trust me it will be rooted before you know it.

Re: EVO "Unrootable"?

Not really! 360 got rapped within a couple months of release.......I never pay for 360 games and can still play them online! I've been looking out for the day I can not pay for PS3 games but that day hasn't came yet.....and its been about 5 years now, maybe 4! The most I have seen them do on the PS3 was get it to play back-up PS2 games but other than that......NOTHING! Other OS was garbage anyway.....who REALLY used it?!

By the time the PS3 is intruded Playstation 4 will be out....or right down the street!

But best believe any phone that goes on sale is gonna be hacked.....within the first 2 weeks! I think a russian team already put Windows Phone 7 on an HD2...........so don't even worry about the EVO!

And besides......name 1 phone Sprint released that hasn't been invaded yet.......I dare you?!

I will even pay money to help someone root this bad boy, like we did with the WinMo phones.

Well because of how popular this phone seems to be I would say a week max but being that I am an android n00b I probably won't be rooting it anytime soon, winmo seemed like a walk in the park compared to this. I am just gonna sit back and learn as much about it as possible and then maybe a few months later I will root it if there is a legitimate reason to do so.
