EPRP with Best Buy or Radio Shack preorder?

May I ask what transpired in the last 5 days that went from the speculation "it seems" to a definitive "you most certainly can?"

I'm sure anyone can pre-order the phone. BB/RS aren't going to say no if you ask to buy a $50 gift card from them. The question is, will you be able to add that phone to an existing EPRP account if it was purchased there?

I'd love nothing more than to run over to BB right now and give them my $. I'm just concerned that I won't be able to activate my phone on the 4th. The 2 people I spoke to, both said no. That's all I can go by. I will call back and ask them what happens if I buy a phone at BB and I want to activate it. Just to see what they say. Being able to call Sprint and talk about the EVO is almost as fun as reading reviews and threads about the EVO.

No, actually, both your statements were about buying it at the retail store.

Your 1st statement was about possibly getting it at the retail stores at launch.
Your 2nd statement said you most certainly can get it at the retail stores. Although it didn't specify "at launch."

My question, and the same question the OP asked, and the question we're trying to get a definite answer too is;

Can someone on EPRP get the phone at BB/RS as a pre-order?

I've been told "no" by two reps. You had two, seemly contradictory post.

If it only refers to the fact that eventually you can get it at the retail stores but not as a pre-order/launch date, then it's not relevant to this thread. If it's not relevant, then I think we know who needs to "pay attention."

When you asked the EPRP rep if you could get it at BB or RS you did not specifiy "at launch." He said no because of their policy of getting phones on the EPRP site or EPRP telesales. Which you don't have to do.

I suggest you try this. I just did it and now I have my answer.

Just got back from Best Buy.
I went in there and asked about getting a Hero added to my account and pre-ordering the EVO. They said "Yes."
Then I told her that Sprint told me I can't get it through them because of my plan.
She asked what plan I had and I told her EPRP. She didn't know what that was, I told her it's the new SERO plan. She said, "Oh, let me check on that." She went and talked to some guy and he said as long as it's not the old SERO, I can get the phones there.

I said I'd be right back. Went outside and called Sprint. Talked to telesales and asked them if I could buy the Hero at Best Buy because it was only $30 vs. $99 @ telesales. He said, "Retail stores can't access your account. They won't be able to add a line or upgrade any phones." I told him they said they could do it. He said, "Have them try, if it works, great, but they won't be able to see the account."

Went back into Best Buy, told the same girl what I was told. She asked for my account info. Entered into their system couldn't make any changes to my account. I offered to by the Hero and pre-order 2 EVO's, but she couldn't do anything except see that I had an Everything Plus Data Share Plan. She called the guy that said it could be done. He looked at the info, then told me sorry "no." Basically, they said if they try to add the phone, it will fail at the last step. They can't call anyone, because it's not an account they are supposed to mess with.

Now, even though I'm pretty convinced I won't be able to get it at a 3rd party retail store, I going to try this at least 2 more times. Tomorrow I'll try it at Radio Shack and this weekend I'll hit another Best Buy. I'd much rather have it in my hands on the 4th, but it's not looking good right now. For now, I'll be ordering through telesales in the morning of the 4th hoping for a Saturday UPS delivery.

FYI - This is my 3rd contact w/ Sprint regarding getting the phone on EPRP and getting it on the 4th. All 3 times I got the exact same info. I can get it on the 4th but only through a Corporate Sprint Store or Telesales.

I was just in RS earlier today. I told them I had a Sero plan and that I was switching to a ERPR when I received the phone. They couldn't access my account on the computer, so they called sprint to confirm that I could get the Evo and I was eligible for an upgrade. Now I just have to pick it up and call sprint to change plans when it comes in.

If you would like to order the phone and are eligible for an upgrade shoot me a PM and ill give you the contact information for who i do my orders through. Its a 3rd party retailer but they order from sprints warehouse and ships the same day he will also be able to do EPRP upgrades on release. Not trying to single anyone out but you must be either a VIP or have over 100 posts for me to give you the information.

Maybe you should go by reps instead of posts. The average joe can make 100 posts in 10 minutes.
