Re: Use The Evo 4G With Your Existing Data Plan

I too made the supposition earlier yest. in that Hesse left himself wiggle room for any pricing adjustments.

To some he implied that 4G via EVO would not cost more to use.
However, taken in context of the entire conversation, I can also interpret it as that they are giving you bigger pipes thus more bandwith.

In marketing parlance, The $10 is just the phone's cost split over 2 years.
It's easier to swallow $199 now than $439 upfront.
Poorly worded by his one spokesman on that blog yest.

Yest, some can say it is a tax on 4g or an entrance fee (as I call it) but the fact of the matter is, you are getting above 5gb (more) without any potential repercussions.

It's like anything else in this country...purely based on interpetation.

Speaking of interpretation, is there any chance that PREMIUM DATA PACKAGE is addl. premium content & NOT 4g usage per se?

I think most people have gotten over the fact that sprint lied to us about the 4g pricing (or mislead us through its wording) but i think most people are peeved at the fact that yes if you live in a 4g market then you are getting above 5mbps, but what if you don't live an one of the 26 out of 19,355 cities in the USA, thats kind of not fair. I have the money and am more then willing to pay it (once the phone is rooted) but I feel for all you guys not even getting 4g in 2010.

Truthfully......for Sprints sake.....I think we as potential EVO customers are gonna get a lot more than just 4G with that $10! The way I see it......I compare it to vision and power vision! Power vision.....from what I saw.....was slightly more expensive than the regular vision! I see the same thing happening here!

The thing that makes this so bad is not the $10 or the lieing though as it is the principal that if we let this slide, then Sprint will pull this on us a 2nd time and a 3rd time and etc... and before we know it we got the "Super Omega Premium Vision Hyper Dimensional Power Deluxe Addon" for $100 extra. I know there is not much we can do about it but I would have rather paid $1000 for this phone rather then that (of course I know I speak for the minority on that price point)

powervision as i explained in another thread was $15, if you had vision which was $10 and picmail which was $5 then you did not see an increase in monthly bill by changing to powervision. Only the customers that did not have pic mail were affected by the price change and at least they got a feature that most people want. besides 4g what are the features we are getting that isn't available on 3g? Nothing which is why the majority of people should be upset if they aren't in an area getting 4g soon.

Yeah...but for some reason I feel the smallest amount of anger about that whole "if you have an EVO you gotta pay!" Thats why I think its gonna be more than just the 4G included in that $10! Sprint REALLY made me eat my words when I stated that they wouldn't make you pay for service you don't/can't have.....but in a way maybe not! We don't know what the $10 will include other than 4G......we can only wait and see!

But it is kinda garbage for them to do that.......I mean......@ least make a plan with it included already....maybe even an EVO Everything plan for $69.99 that has everything included!

true, some type of add on can be included, we really don't know everything the $10 entails.

Yup a 4G plan > another extra addon for no reason..

I do believe the $10 may include other stuff but the point of addons is to get things separate of what you want and use and not bundled...maybe a discount bundle as an option but otherwise..

I mean wasn't the point of these "simply everything" plans to keep things simple? why ruin 2 years of work just for this?

I remember that thread......now I'm not gonna argue with you like in the other thread.....or say that you're wrong either!

This is similar to that situation though! If your phone didn't support picturemail you were straight and didn't have to worry (basically like now.....I have a Touch Pro 2 and it doesn't support 4G)!

Now if I wanna get the EVO (which I will) than you need to get the $10 add-on (Because the EVO is the only phone to use it now)!

So basically your choices are 1) Get the phone and pay the extra $10 or 2) Don't get the phone and don't pay the extra $10!

I feel for people on family plans that wanna get this phone for all their lines or @ least 2 of'em............but for people on a single line.....WOW!
