Re: All Evo 4G Pre-Order Discussions Go Here

Paid tax as well, and was told that you pay tax on the total dollar amount regardless, which makes perfect sense. If you are applying a 50 dollar gift card then you owe 150 and pay tax on that. So anyone who got the gift cards without tax it was a mistake considering you should be paying tax on the total of the purchase. Be happy the teenager at Best Buy you dealt with screwed up.

ALSO - You have to remember when buying the phone from anywhere else but the shack and bb, that you are paying tax on 300 bucks, so even if you get the mail in rebate you are still paying more tax then us on our pre-orders. I got my pre-order at a best buy here in Chicago on Saturday and I was told I was the 20th in line, and that all pre-orders will be honored and they will call us to pick up the devices over the course of the day considering everyone has to come in and upgrade their plans/contracts and they dont want a huge line of people waiting while they are doing so.

Re: All Evo 4G Pre-Order Discussions Go Here

So BB said they will call the people who pre-ordered but want if i decide to go down there before they call me? My job is not too far from the BB i ordered from so i may take a stroll there on my lunch break. You think i can still pick it up or I really have to wait for that call?

Wirelessly posted (Sprint Touch Pro: Opera/9.7 (WindowsMobile; PPC; Opera Mobi/35267; U; en; Presto/2.1.1))

I don't see how people are charged tax for a gift card.. I have bought gift cards previously and I have never paid tax on the purchase of the actual card just the face value of the card or the amount I decided to put on it.. I always figured this was because you're not making an actual "purchase" to get a gift card you're somewhat just transferring funds to a card.. And if you had to pay tax on it, you would be paying taxes twice for one purchase.. A tax to put the money on the card and tax again for the actual purchase you make with the card.. I could be wrong though.. Maybe state laws differ, I live in Illinois and did my Pre order in Tinley Park, IL..
